Pre-planning your funeral isn’t just about making decisions in advance—it’s about giving your loved one's peace of mind during a difficult time.

Here are some key things to include in your funeral pre-planning checklist:

📄 Gather key personal, family, and legal details—including identification info, family member names, estate executor and attorney contacts, and the locations of your will, trusts, and healthcare documents.

⛪️ Specify the type of service you want, where and when it should be held, any religious or cultural preferences, who should participate, and details like music, readings, visuals, or dress code.

⚰️ Note your preference for burial or cremation, including details such as burial type (traditional or eco-friendly) or a chosen crematorium, plot or urn preferences, inscription or ash arrangements, and any clothing or personal items you'd like included.

💰 Outline your funeral financial arrangements, including pre-paid plans, insurance policies, designated funds, organ donor status, preferred memorial donations, and any legacy projects like letters, memory books, or digital tributes.

Did you know a single blood donation can save up to three lives? 💉🩸

Vanessa and Hayden, two of our wonderful Funeral Directors rolled up their sleeves recently to donate blood with Wollongong, and it was such a rewarding experience!

If you're thinking about donating, we highly recommend it. The staff were fantastic; the process was easy and knowing you're helping save lives makes those post-donation snacks taste even better!

🌿 A small act of kindness 🌿

On her way back from a service, Aislinn, one of our compassionate funeral assistants, came across two injured kookaburras. One had collided with a truck and lay motionless on the ground. The other, possibly swooping down to check on its companion, was struck by a passing car.

Both birds were stunned, confused, and unable to move. But Aislinn didn't hesitate - she carefully and safely rescued both kookaburras, making sure they were secure and comfortable.

We're pleased to share that both kookaburras were safely taken to our local vet for treatment and are now fully recovered. They have been re-released and are soaring back into the wild where they belong.

Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest difference. Thank you, Aislinn, for showing such compassion and quick thinking! 👏

On Friday, 8th August, our H.Parsons team were proud to take part in the Dying to Know Day event held at Shoalhaven Memorial Gardens.

It was a meaningful day dedicated to encouraging open and honest conversations about death, dying, and end-of-life planning. These important topics can be hard to talk about but are essential for peace of mind and preparedness.
