Huge congratulations to Cat, Director of Phyxit Physio, for her incredible work keeping Australia’s Open Water Swim Team performing at their peak at the World Open Water Championships

Travelling as the team’s treating physiotherapist across Stop 2 in Ibiza and Stop 3 in Golfo Aranci, Cat played a vital role behind the scenes — ensuring athletes stayed strong, prepared, and ready to deliver on the world stage 💪

The results speak for themselves 👏
From Moesha Johnson’s dominance across all stops to strong performances from the entire team, it’s a testament to the work done both in and out of the water.

We’re proud to see the impact of expert care in elite performance — outstanding work, Cat!

ACL post-op 🚨 Return to play isn’t a timeline… it’s a TEST.

Too many athletes get cleared based on time alone — but the data tells a different story.

🔍 Re-injury rates sit around 15–25%, and can climb to ~23% in athletes under 25 returning to sport. (physio-pedia.com)
Even more concerning — the risk can last up to 5 years post-op. (physio-pedia.com)

That’s why return to play testing matters.

✔️ Strength testing
Quadriceps weakness is one of the biggest predictors of re-tear. Athletes with poor strength symmetry have significantly higher re-injury rates. (benchmarkps.org)

✔️ Left vs right comparison (Limb Symmetry Index)
We’re not guessing — we measure.
Aiming for ≥90% symmetry is the benchmark, because deficits here can persist long-term and increase risk. (physio-pedia.com)

✔️ Agility & movement quality
Most ACL injuries don’t happen in straight lines — they happen during cutting, landing, and deceleration. If you’re not tested in these, you’re not ready. (MDPI)

✔️ Sport-specific demands
Passing gym tests ≠ passing game demands.
Return to play should reflect the chaos, speed, and unpredictability of your sport.

📊 The biggest takeaway:
Athletes who complete proper return-to-sport testing can reduce reinjury risk by up to 75–84%. (pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov)

Don’t just “feel ready” — prove it.
