Challengers such as estrangement, low self-esteem and loneliness can all be overcome. My name is Mark Beaton and I am an ordained Minister with the Uniting Church in Australia. I have some counselling training but the majority of my advice comes from my training and experience as a minister as well as personal experiences. My goal is to help men through difficult stages in life that include divorce or separation from a partner and children, loneliness, bereavement and low self-esteem.

Egotism is one companion you never want to travel with. Egotism is destructive to healthy self-esteems because it is constructed on a lie. Self-promotion is no endorsement, and it distracts your attention from our real purpose—promoting and serving others.

Welcome aboard Andrew.

If you use exaggeration as a hyperbole to highlight a point in a fictional story, fair enough. But using exaggeration to highlight or promote yourself, indicates you are not happy with who you are. Understand this, when you lie, YOU pay the toll! If you don't feel you are good enough to present yourself to others just as you are, your self-esteem needs a check-up!

If there is one word I would remove from the dictionary it is perfection. It might be a good allegory to describe something beautiful or unique, but in goal setting it is demotivating. We need to focus on progress, not perfection!

Do you understand this term I use, "True Person"? Your true person acts on your collection of the morals, principles and values you have chosen so you can live and behave to a standard that reflects your identity. Your true person is not your conscience. It monitors your current behaviour by comparing it too past unwanted behaviour. Your true person is as a guide to help you remove conflict within yourself.
