Voices from Dharawal country
Always was always will be
By Dr Jodi Edwards, please take the time to read it:
I'm here in Dharawal Country, where Grandfather Sun shines into our Sea creating the currents. The gentle sea breeze shares the whispering stories of our Ancestors past since time immemorial. Dharawal Wodi Wodi knowledges are encrypted in our Mountains and littered through our landscapes in our Country. Our Culture is embedded in the songs of birds, the breaching whales and the many fish that swim in the currents and rising tides created by Grandmother moon. Our old people' spirits and Elders will carry us forward through generations, using the lightening from the sky, directing the way for those who walked with them then, now and in the future generations. Our Ancestors and Elders lighting the fires within us to keep us strong. Elders reconnecting us with the land, sea, and the sky through our Ancient stories where we find answers to our questions. Like the millions of stars in Father Sky we shine with the millions of Voices who stood with us Recognising our Ancestors, recognising our Elders, recognising our Children and Grandchildren and we will continue to drive change. For now we will take time to stoke our fires nurturing our flames we will again create a cultural burn for a better future. π€πβ€οΈ
My response was adapted and adopted together from my friend my Sista and strong Cultural advisor Aunty Veronica Bird whose dedication to our Voices, our culture and learnings will continue.
