HAPPY WORLD PHYSIO DAY!

Every year on the 8th of September physiotherapists come together to promote World Physiotherapy Day.

This year our focus is on raising awareness of how physiotherapists can play a key role in improving mental health through exercise.

1 in 4 people will experience a mental health condition of some sort in their lifetime. If you are that 1 in 4 it is important to remember you are not alone.

How can physiotherapist’s help with improving mental health?
- Listen to what matters to you
- We know exercise is an evidence-based treatment for depression and other mental health conditions.
- Our physiotherapists can work with you to develop and progress an individualised exercise programme targeted to achieve your goals.

IOH are proud sponsors of the Pain Revolution 2018 Ride. Our very own John Booth from RehWork is a Pain Revolution Rider this year.

We need to completely RETHINK persisting pain. We need to RE-ENGAGE with this massive problem, and give people resources to RECOVER. We need a REVOLUTION!
The Pain Revolution is a 7 day cycle tour from 11-18th April 2018, led by some of Australian’s leading pain scientists and clinicians. They are taking on their own physical challenge, riding their bikes from Sydney to Albury-Wodonga. They are stopping at rural centres en route to discuss the latest discoveries and learn from clinicians and communities who are facing this massive health problem every day.

If you'd like to attend the Wollongong Professional Seminar it will be held on the 11/04/18 from 7pm - 8.30pm, entry is free.

For more information visit: https://www.painrevolution.org/events

Our team of experts will be cycling into town and they'd like you to join them for an easy to understand talk about why your body hurts, why it keeps hurting, and what you can do to help it.

Tristan and Rosie refining their Shockwave Therapy (SWT) technique. SWT works by using a Radial Pressure Wave to stimulate local blood flow, improve healing response, break scar tissue and adhesions, reduce muscle spasm, and decrease pain.

It is indicated to be useful in patients with chronic inflammation or scarring of soft tissue which has not resolved with traditional physiotherapy treatment modalities.

IOH is one of the few facilities in the Illawarra offering this treatment, and SWT can be included in your standard physio consult - FREE of charge.
