π MEET NATHAN OUR CLINICAL COORDINATOR - ABORIGINAL HEALTH PRACTITIONER π
π What does working at Illawarra AMS mean to you?
As a Noongar and Wilyakali man, Iβm proud to be working as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner and Clinical Coordinator at the Illawarra AMS. We have a great team at the AMS, and there is nothing more rewarding than working with my people and supporting the community.
π€ What advice would you give mob about looking after their health?
The advice I would give is that youβre never too young or too old to start living a healthier life. Start exercising, make healthier food choices, and try to limit drinking and smoking. Book in at the AMS for your yearly health check and regular check-ups with the GP, and take that first step on your health journey.
π«ΆπΎ Who or what inspires you in your career?
My grandparents, parents, and siblings inspire me to keep paving the way for our people, working hard and always doing your best. I love being around mob from all over. Growing up and working in Broken Hill and Far West communities, as well as across the Illawarra and South Coast, has been an incredible experience. Listening to, respecting, and learning from Elders and community members has been unreal, and it keeps me going. It makes me proud to be Aboriginal.
