Maddi recently went to Cambodia on a volunteer humanitarian trip as part of a team assisting cataract surgery through AHHA - Australian Health Humanitarian Aid. It was very rewarding and life changing for many of the patients. More information about AHHA's mission can be found at https://www.ahha.org.au/

We're all a little sad as we recently bid farewell to Pania who's zest for life, love of her Maori culture and empathy for our patients will all be sorely missed. Pania's Maori teaching has become so busy that she has moved back to Melbourne to be closer to her pupils. Everyone at E & O know you will be a success. Thank you Pania.

Last night we bid farewell to Marci. Marci was with E & O for 8 years and studied primary teaching during this time. She now works full time as a teacher and we all think her students are some of the luckiest children in South Gippsland. Thank you Marci for being a valuable part of our team.

Meet our new optometrist - Maddi!

Maddi was born and raised in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne before deciding to make a sea change to the Bass Coast. She completed her Bachelor of Biomedicine and Doctor of Optometry from the University of Melbourne. Maddi was lucky enough to complete a 6-week internship at Ophthalmic Consultants of Connecticut with optometry guru Dr Jim Thimons in her final year that bolstered her interest in managing ocular pathology. Maddi has been a soft and rigid contact lens wearer and is eager to help other contact lens wearers in the community. Outside of work, Maddi loves the beach, running, hiking and is an aspiring surfer - so if you know any good spots, let Maddi know!

Last Friday E & O staff enjoyed our Christmas break up. It started with a gentle bike ride along the rail trail from Meeniyan to Koonwarra with the riders on non powered bikes having to battle with those who were electrically assisted. This was followed by a meal at Harmans winery culminating in our annual party game for the winner of the perpetual trophy. Kusal was successful this year. Well played Kusal you outwitted and outplayed everybody.

Perfect for cycling in South East Asia. Maui Jim sunglasses combine polarisation to reduce glare and offer 4 different lens colours to enhance vision. I'm in the south of Vietnam cycling across the Ong cop Bridge, an amazing hand made wooden structure spanning 800 metres and only 1.5 m wide. The handrail is a bit sketchy and the occasional plank is missing and It's a little squeezy when there's an oncoming motorcyclist.

Di and I had a quick break cycling in Vietnam. Big thanks to our guides Mr. Wisa and Mr. Toan who looked after us and made sure that we were well fed on this trip from Saigon to Hanoi. Our E & O hats may now be seen along the Mekong Delta!
