A confirmed case of Measles attended Lismore Emergency Department. Saturday, 21 February 2026, approximately 5:45pm β 11:20pm
Measles symptoms include: Fever, sore red eyes, runny nose and a cough, a red, blotchy rash appearing 3β4 days after symptoms begin.
Measls is highly contagious!
π Symptoms can appear up to 18 days after exposure.
If you develop symptoms:
π Call ahead before visiting your GP or ED to avoid potential spread.
Some people may need urgent advice, including:
β’ Pregnant people
β’ Those with weakened immune systems
β’ Call your local public health unit: 1300 066 055.
π«Vaccination remains the best protection.
Anyone born after 1965 should have had two doses of measles vaccine.
MMR vaccines are free in NSW for eligible people and available at GPs and pharmacies (5+ years).
