This week is National Palliative Care Week.

In 2025, NPCW celebrates 30 years by asking a simple yet powerful question: “What’s your plan?” It’s a direct approach to Australians and their loved ones to talk about what matters most at the end of life and to make a plan that empowers and respects their choices during the last years, months, and days of life.

Why does this conversation matter even more now?

Death remains a difficult subject for people to talk about, that’s natural and human. Death is also often considered to be a taboo. The reluctance, and lack of awareness and engagement contributes to a widespread misunderstanding of what palliative care is and what it can offer.

NPCW 2025 is about changing that. It provides an opportunity to start those conversations, break down taboos, dispel myths, and empower the life and choices that need to be considered with terminal illness and ageing.

During National Palliative Care Week, New Aged Care welcomes Nurse Practitioner Sandi Haddon to the team. Sandi has over twenty years' experience in palliative care and has a passion for facilitating those difficult conversations and for compassionate end of life care provision.

We’re excited to announce that Issue 22 of the NAC Newsletter is now live!

In this edition, we feature Home Care Client Rueben and his remarkable talent for creating wood sculptures. Rueben has gifted over 50 of his restored pieces to family and friends, sharing his talent with those he holds dear. One of his most recent contributions was a beautiful piece donated to the New Aged Care office, where it continues to inspire and bring joy to all who see it. We are truly grateful for Rueben’s generosity. Be sure to read more about his story in the full issue of the newsletter!

Today, New Aged Care observes Denim Day for Dementia.

Denim, a universally recognised and versatile fabric, represents resilience and solidarity. Wearing denim today serves as a powerful reminder of the campaign’s mission and helps initiate important conversations about dementia.

A massive thank you to everyone who participated and generously donated. All funds raised will be directed to Dementia Australia.

Also, please note that the office will be closed on Monday March 10th, for the Labour Day Public Holiday.

We will reopen on Tuesday March 11th, at 9am.

ANN-MARIE'S ADVENTURES!

We had a trip for 3 weeks in India. It was was awesome! No Delhi Belly, becuase we took good precautions (probiotic, Oral cholera vaccine, protecting against E.coli too, Bovine Colostrum with each meal!!)

WOW, what a beautiful place, so varied, so colourful, amazing food, amazing temples (OMG, the Taj Mahal!!). We are going back to the region in January, to Sri Lanka (to see the Test Cricket). Gluttons for punishment!
