What in the world are Polyphenols, and why do they matter?

Polyphenols are compounds found in plant foods, many of which have been shown to be incredibly beneficial for our health.

They can be broken down into many different sub-categories, and you might have even heard of some of them like resveratrol (in blueberries), EGCG (from green tea), or lycopene (in tomatoes).

Polyphenols help encourage a healthy gut microbiome, can reduce inflammation, support immune function, improve cardiovascular health, support blood sugar regulation…

The list goes on & on…

BUT,

If your diet is mainly based around ultra-processed packaged foods, your intake of polyphenols will be very limited.

So try to include as many of these fresh plant foods in your daily diet as you can, it can be as easy as adding some herbs to your next meal!

Pause and Reflect: What Does Self-Care Look Like for You?
Self-care isn’t a one-size-fits-all practice—it’s deeply personal. For some, it’s a quiet moment with a cup of tea. For others, it’s a walk in nature, journaling, or simply saying no to something that drains their energy. 🌿✨
Today, take a moment to ask yourself: 💡 What does self-care mean to me?
💡 What’s one small thing I can do today to nourish my mind, body, or soul?
Your well-being matters. Even the smallest acts of self-care can make a big difference. 💚
Share your favorite self-care practice in the comments—we’d love to hear what works for you! 🌸

Understanding Emotional Triggers
Have you ever reacted strongly to something and wondered, “Why did that bother me so much?” 💭
Emotional triggers are our mind and body’s way of alerting us to unresolved feelings or past experiences. They can show up as intense reactions to situations, words, or actions that might seem small on the surface.
Here’s how to start working with your triggers:
1️⃣ Pause & Notice: When you feel triggered, take a deep breath and acknowledge what’s happening.
2️⃣ Explore the Feeling: Ask yourself, “What am I feeling right now? What’s underneath this emotion?”
3️⃣ Reflect on the Past: Sometimes, triggers are tied to past experiences. Consider if this reaction connects to an earlier memory or pattern.
4️⃣ Respond, Don’t React: Practice responding calmly instead of reacting impulsively. Grounding techniques can help.
Remember, triggers are an opportunity for growth—they show us where healing is needed. If you’d like support in understanding and working through emotional triggers, therapy can provide a safe space to explore and heal. 🌿

Are you confused by all the research on soy? Is it good? Is it bad?

Well, simplified, like most things, it could be argued either way, and while it is true that in extremely large doses and in some conditions, soy intake is not recommended

But for the large portion of the population, soy consumption has been found to be more beneficial than harmful, and that even in large consumption in men, soy intake doesn’t contribute to differences in levels of testosterone or estrogen.
