Whooping Cough Alert: Protect Your Newborn!
There have been recent cases of whooping cough reported in our local area. If you're expecting a baby or have a newborn, it's important to take steps to protect your little one from this serious illness.
Whooping cough (pertussis) can cause severe coughing fits and even breathing pauses (apnoea) in young babies, particularly those under 12 months old.
The best way to reduce the risk? Vaccination.
โ During pregnancy: Make sure your whooping cough vaccine is up to dateโthis helps you stay healthy and pass on immunity to your baby.
โ For family & friends: Ask those who will be in close contact with your baby to ensure they are up to date with their whooping cough vaccine or have it done at least two weeks before meeting your newborn.
