The Weigelli Centre is an Indigenous, rural, residential Drug and Alcohol rehabilitation facility. We are located on 50 hectares of rural land about 25km from the small town of Cowra in the Central West of NSW. We are about 200km from Canberra and 330km from Sydney. For over 16 years the Weigelli Centre has provided a safe and positive place of healing for Aboriginal people suffering from the ha

rmful effects of Alcohol and Other Drugs. Non-Indigenous people may also apply to come to the Centre. A comprehensive evidence-based programme is offered to clients. This programme is delivered in a safe and culturally appropriate context. There are around 18 clients on-site at one time. 24 / 7 care is provided by 15 staff.

Today, Weigelli had the pleasure of welcoming some of the wonderful Binaal Billa team, who visited to support our residents and provide information about the valuable services they offer.

We know that throughout the recovery journey, trauma can often resurface, making it so important that our men and women have access to culturally safe support and spaces where healing can begin. Partnerships and connections like these play an important role in strengthening that journey.

A big thank you to the ladies from Binaal Billa Family Violence Prevention Legal Service for taking the time to yarn with and support our residents, and a special shout out to Yoorana Gunya Family Healing Centre Aboriginal Corporation for sending along the deadly coffee bus. The cappuccinos and hot chocolates were definitely appreciated by everyone — especially in this cold weather! ☕🖤💛❤️

Weigelli residents and our Community Team staff were once again privileged to spend time on Country at the Wiradjuri Farm Stay, generously hosted by Ally Coe from the Wiradjuri Centre in Condobolin.

This time on Country created space for deep connection, cultural strengthening and healing. Being on Country is more than just a visit—it is a return to identity, to belonging, and to the knowledge that has been passed down through generations. Culture and connection provide a strong foundation for healing, grounding our people in who they are, where they come from, and the strength they carry within.

The men were honoured to learn on Country with Uncle Pete and Uncle Ed, gathering and crafting didgeridoos and clapsticks, strengthening cultural knowledge and identity.

At the same time, the women shared in the warmth of the Sista Shed with Aunty Bev Coe, learning the art of weaving.

There were many moments of joy and togetherness. Deadly feeds were prepared and shared, including johnny cakes, fried scones, fresh kangaroo, and camp oven curries. We also celebrated two special birthdays, adding to the spirit of belonging.

As the sun set, we gathered around the fire where stories were shared, reflections were spoken, and yarns were held about walking a strong path forward—living clean, sober and connected lives. These moments on Country allow space for truth, reflection, and growth in a culturally safe and supportive environment.

Culture, connection, and being on Country are at the heart of healing. They remind us that we are never alone, that strength comes from kinship, and that healing happens when we reconnect with culture, spirit, and each other.

Weigelli staff are proud to walk beside all that comes through our program, keep walking strong, stay deadly and continue to honour your journey. May your paths lead you home, rising as strong leaders for your families and for all mob.

Weigelli staff were honoured to be invited to attend the Girls Yarn Up group at Mulyan Public School on Wednesday afternoon. It was a privilege to sit together and share in meaningful conversations around the importance of education, and the strength it takes to keep going even when faced with setbacks.

Stay deadly, our young Sista's- you are our next generation of strong leaders, and we are proud of you!!

Weigelli Newsletters dated from 2011 to 2013 that feature previous staff members updates, upcoming events, art and site upgrades.
Such an awesome find!

We would like to give a massive thank you to the team at Roundabout Canberra for your generosity, love and support for our young mums to be here in Cowra, NSW. You have truly gone above and beyond for each and every one of them.
Your donations — including prams, car seats, clothing, baby gates, linen, first aid kits, bouncers, nappies, formula, bottles, toiletries, highchairs and so much more — have made an enormous difference. Not to mention the front door delivery to the Weigelli Centre, making it possible for us to easily distribute these wonderful items to our first time mothers.
Our young mums were completely overwhelmed with gratitude and appreciation for everything Roundabout has provided. They cannot thank you enough.
Roundabout Canberra, the beautiful and meaningful work you do, does not go unnoticed. We highly recommend your service, and once again, thank you — you are all amazing.
