Back In Motion Woodville

Back In Motion Woodville Providers of physiotherapy and related services.

For over 10 years, the Back In Motion Health Group has been providing Australians with physiotherapy and related services. Like most great stories the growth from humble beginnings to a budding group of hard working, devoted and caring physiotherapists rose from an unwavering vision. To offer a physiotherapy service of the highest quality with a strong philosophy of care that would seek to provide lasting results for those sick of endless quick fixes. We provide a holistic solution that enables clients to get what they want out of physiotherapy, perhaps getting back to sport, back to work, back to living, or just doing what they loved but were unable to do. By utilising the benefits of a broader range of clinical methods including clinical Pilates, massage, dry needling, and hydrotherapy and more all under the expert guidance of a physiotherapist, Back In Motion has been able to give its clients not only a great experience, but also the outcome they wanted.

Life is busy and here at Woodville, we understand.

While we won’t go on and on about all of the ways stress can potentially contribute negatively to our overall wellbeing, we will say it’s important to find positive ways to manage stress where possible.

This can be as simple as finding time for relaxation, doing something you love, taking a daily morning walk, or practicing mindful breathing.

How do you manage stress in your day-to-day life?

Did you know that around 90% of lower back pain cases are “non-specific”? This is a term used in research to highlight that most cases of lower back pain and cannot be attributed to a specific underlying condition e.g., a fracture, infection or major nerve compression.

For those of us with lower back pain, it means there could be a range of complex interactions between tissues, movement, nervous system sensitivity, and psychosocial factors that could be contributing to your pain.

Recovering from injury can sometimes be a slow and challenging process, both mentally and physically.

We know it can be tempting to dive right back in, but here are some important things to consider first.

1) Have you completed your rehab?
Rehabilitation exercises prescribed by physios serve specific purposes with the intent to help your body recover as soon as possible. The more you follow your rehab plan, the easier your return to sport is likely to be. Often you will slowly or partially return to your sport or activity before you have fully completed your rehab, your physio will help guide this process.
2) Are you actually ready?
Preparedness for sport isn’t just about feeling good when standing or walking. It’s also about ensuring that your body can do the things that is required in your particular sport or activity. For example, some sports require particular demands, such as jumping, tackling, changing directions, power etc. Your physio will prescribe exercises specific to the demands of your activity to help you return back to what you love doing.
3) Are you prepared to listen to your body? As you return to your sport, take the time to listen to your body before, during and afterwards. If you are feeling any discomfort, apprehension, pain and/or have any questions about your injury, ensure you let your physio know.

Chat to your physio to discuss the best return-to-sport plan for you.

Love is in the air! Valentine’s Day is all about celebrating love, whether it’s love for a partner, friend, pet or family member.

While today is officially the day to plan something sweet for the special someone in your life, remember that you don’t need to wait for a specific day to show someone you care.

The first step to anything is preparation, and sport is no exception!

But when it comes to warming up, it can be hard to know what to do.

The key is in the phrase warm-up. You want to get your body moving, and warm up those muscles to help reduce the risk of injury.

To do this, focus on movement. You want to get your blood pumping and elevate your heartrate gradually. Think skipping, speed walking, jogging (it can be on the spot) or anything else that gets you moving.

You can then follow this with more high-intensity exercises, and additional movements that activate specific muscle groups, such as your core, glutes or quads.

Don’t overthink it!
