In my mid-twenties I found myself collecting a barrage of injuries, everything from knee, lower back and shoulder pain (both sides) to RSI in both of my hands… just to name a few. After many years of Physio, Chiro and Massage treatments I found that I would get better but the issues would come back or another issue would arise. It took me many years to fully recover from EVERY issue that my body w

ould come up with, this is where I learnt (the hard and expensive way) what does or doesn’t work when it comes to fixing these issues.

Think your poor technique won't catch up with you?

Think again.

Sure squeezing out those last few reps of your last sets won't hurt you.

But you should always strive to keep good technique.

If your technique is poor in your warm-up sets, are you ready to go heavy?

You gotta learn to walk before you can run.

Poor technique day in day out ain't going to do you any good, it'll lead to muscle imbalances, overuse injuries and yes, poor performance too.

Going back to work on your technique not helps with your aches and pains but also how much you can lift which means more gainzzz.

Say yes to more pain free gainzzz.

Yes, foam rolling can be that good!

Don't get me wrong it ain't magic!

It's not gonna fix year's of pain, poor mobility and technique.

But it will give you temporary mobility and pain relief so you can get on with your workout and life.

It's just another tool in the toolbox in your rehab journey.

It's one thing that will help you but it will never be the thing.

Do you use foam rolling before your workout?

30 days of Reels are coming your way!
--
I've had a pretty good reception from the few reels that I've done recently so I've decided to jump the gun and GO ALL IN for September.
--
Why?
--
Tbh I feel like my content hasn't been hitting as well as I liked and it has been a bit mundane making exercise explanation videos😅... So this is a welcome change-up.
--
I've always thought there isn't much I won't do to help people return to the gym after injury, so if this will help me do just that, I'm all in 👊.
--
This means the podcast will take a break this month sorry your episode will just have to wait 😅.
--
I'll be posting them on both my IG, FB and my new TikTok account ( ) too.
--
So if you're not interested in any videos where I may or may not be lip-syncing 🙈or dancing😅 mixed with a bit of lifting and injury advice...
--
I would recommend that you unfollow or unfriend me now to save you some valuable scrolling time.
--
Otherwise enjoy the vids. 😊

So that's a wrap!
--
I've officially gone full time with Adam - Movement Therapy!
--
Today I handed in my uniform and resignation for my Fitness Leader position at ECH...the last of many jobs I worked and quit since becoming a PT in 2014.
--
It took just over 3 and a half years of business, consistently pushing my content and story online to get to this stage.
--
I started AMT because once I had finally overcome all the pain and suffering I endured throughout my 20's due to my many injuries.
--
I was angry and sad that the health industry did a poor job to get me back to health and lifting again. 😩
--
I felt it was my duty to help people understand that you too can overcome your injuries and triumph over all the pain, disappointment, heartache and embarrassment that comes with it...but only if you are prepared to do the work like I had to.
--
And I feel like I'm doing just that 🙂.
--
I want to give a big shout out to all my broken clients past and present who entrusted me to help them overcome their nagging shoulder pain, sore backs, and bad knees so that they can return to lifting and be active again... It takes a lot of courage to take on the challenge, I commend you all 🙏.
--
Also, I have to thank my partner Dani, for putting up with all my highs and lows, my constant evasion of housework (while working at home) and asking for her opinions but doing the exact opposite all too often... I wouldn't have gotten this far without you...I love you dearly like you would not believe ❤️.
--
So what's next? Well, let's just say things are about to get REEL... Stayed tuned. 💪

WHAT'S THE BIG DIFFERENCE?
SQUAT VS DEADLIFT
--
The key difference between a squat and a deadlift is your hip movement.
--
Deadlift:
Hips are primarily moving backwards.
--
Squat:
Hips are primarily moving downwards.
--
Yes of course I know they are moving back in the squat too and a little down in the deadlift.
--
But most of the hip movement is either going forwards or backwards.
--
It's even more obvious in the Romanian Deadlift (RDL) and Front Squat.
--
RDL:
Hips move backwards
--
Front squat:
Hips move downwards
--
Don't over complicate it!

If you have shoulder pain or experience a pinch in the front of your shoulder you might have been told that you have Anterior shoulder impingement.

Basically, this means you've got pain in the front of your shoulder.

Impingement means there is less space in a joint than usual. Usually, we are given the visual of a bone smashing into a tendon or other structures but to be honest, we don't really know if that this is actually happening.

In this video, I show you a test to see if you might have shoulder impingement.

This test is great because you have something that will make your symptoms worse so that when you test it after you can clearly understand if the gets better or not.

If you get a positive on the test, there could be many reasons why.

You could have quite rounded shoulders, eg a tight t-spine, tight Pecs, and or tight Lats.

Or it could be that your shoulder lacks stability and moves too far forward in the shoulder capsule causing pain/discomfort.

In this video, I'll show you how to work on your shoulder if you have a stability issue.

There are two main types of people I see in my gym.
--
Person 1 – Consistent
--
Has a plan/goal something to work towards.
Consistently chips away at it despite the setbacks.
--
Does whatever is in their power to get over their injury or issue no matter what.
--
Knows when something is or isn't working for them because they put the time and effort to find out.
--
Person 2 – inconsistent
--
Their only plan is to get out of pain as quickly as possible.
--
Doesn't do the hard work set for them.
--
Doesn't know what does and doesn't work for them because they haven't put the time and effort in.
--
Is constantly changing their plan.
--
I've been person 2 before... Do your best to become person 1, you'll save time, money and always get better results.

Why Taking a Deload is so Important
--
Are you feeling like you keep working hard in the gym but all you consistently get is more tired?
--
You might just need to back it off now and then to give your body a good rest.
--
The goal in the gym shouldn't be to just get tired sore and recked, it should be to improve, grow, get stronger and better.
--
Let me remind you that all the growing and strength building doesn't happen when you're lifting.
--
It happens when you're resting, so don't forget that your training needs to incorporate both... otherwise you'll be just spinning your wheels getting nowhere fast.
--
In this episode of the Movement Therapy Podcast, I speak with .sedsy about all things diet and training and also how incorporating a deload into your training can increase your gainz in the long term in many ways.

Is the Deadlift really that bad?
--
I've trained quite a few people over these years, some with back pain, shoulder pain, just had knee or shoulder surgery etc.
--
But almost always the Deadlift has been an integral part of building strength and helping them return to training.
--
It's a lift that gets bastardised and blamed for many issues, but when performed well and taught well it has so many benefits.
--
That's why most of the time it's one of the first strength movements I'll work towards with clients.
--
Here are a few of my finest Deadlifters *Many of which were back pain sufferers, can you guess which ones? I doubt it.

In this episode I speak with Adelaide based PT Chris Sedsy Seddon.

A competitive bodybuilder (Men's Physique) and powerlifter who as a teenager, had always aspired to become a musician or join the fitness industry.

Chris, who was always active in team sports, found a love for resistance training and bodybuilding aged just shy of 17.

Tragedy and grief struck around this time which led to a downward spiral in Chris' mental health - this is where the importance of music and fitness in his life became clear.

Chris found that there was so much uninformed 'bro-science' and misinformation out there regarding training & nutrition. And so through trial & error he figured out what was safe, what worked, and what would end up causing him serious injury or metabolic damage.

Some years later Chris would finally enter the health & fitness industry as a personal trainer on a mission to spread a positive message and education on movement, mindfulness & nutrition.

This passion lead to becoming accredited as a Sports Nutritionist to widen his scope to facilitate change through nutritional interventions and mindset/behaviour coaching - the areas which he believes have the greatest potential to deliver value.
