🪜 Did you know your body has a built‑in “ladder” that helps it feel safe, alert, or shut down? This is Deb Dana’s Polyvagal Ladder, and it’s like a story your body tells when it’s scanning for safety, automatically and below your awareness.

1️⃣ Top Rung – Ventral Vagal (💚 Safe & Social)
This is your home base. You feel calm, connected with others, curious, and ready to engage. When you’re here, life feels friendly and bright.

2️⃣ Middle Rung – Sympathetic (⚠️Alert & Active)
This is your body’s “fight or flight” response—your heart races, muscles get ready, and energy kicks in. Your body’s way of saying, “Let’s deal with this!”

3️⃣ Bottom Rung – Dorsal Vagal (🐢 Freeze & Rest)
When things get overwhelming, your body might go quiet, slow down, or feel numb.
