How our Exercise Physiologists can help to get you out of recovery!

They focus on regaining your strength, mobility and function, starting with the affected area - For Joint or surgical sites like the knee, hip, shoulder or back, they tailor exercises to restore flexibility and stability.

They also prioritise strengthening the core, as a strong midsection supports overall movement and reduces strain on the surgical area. Additionally, the upper and lower body are worked on to ensure balance and prevent compensation injuries.

Through a combination of targeted exercises, the goal is to help you recover fully while minimising the risk of re-injury.

Shoe Check - Are your child's shoes helping or hindering?

Here are a few quick things to check:

✔️Toe Room - Allow about a thumb-width of space between the end of the shoe and your child's longest toe so their feet have room to grow and move.

✔️Flexible Sole - Shoes should bend at the front near the toes, not in the middle. This helps the foot move naturally during walking and running.

✔️Secure fit - Velcro staps or laces help keep shoes secure and also support children's learning to put their shoes on independently.

✔️ Check the Wear on the Bottom - Look at the sole of the shoe. If one area has been worn down (such as the inside edge) faster then the other, it may indicate the child's foot is rolling in or out when walking.

A Quick Physio or Podiatry appointment can help assess your child's foot alignment and arche support if needed.

Movements to make running easier and support your goals 🎉

What? 🙋‍♀️
Key techniques include leg swings, lunges, high knees, butt kicks, and ankle rotations. These should be in your routine before you start the run!

Why? 🤷‍♀️
5–10 minute warm-up with dynamic movements prepares your body for the stress of running, increases blood flow to muscles, and improves joint mobility. By raising the temperature of muscles, dynamic stretches reduce resistance and allow for faster, more powerful contraction while running.
