💥What Are Trigger Points? Trigger points are hyper-irritable, tight knots in your muscle fibers.

✅They're often caused by:

Overuse (like poor posture or repetitive movement)

Injury or stress

Muscle imbalances

Sedentary habits or poor ergonomics

✅They hurt because:

They restrict blood flow to the area (causing pain and tension)

They send “referred pain” to other areas (like a neck knot causing headaches)

They cause muscle stiffness and inflammation

🏉 Game Day Recap – Mud, Mates & Magpies!

It was a muddy showdown at the park as teams went head-to-head in the final rounds before finals! With grit, guts, and some slippery plays, the Blues held their ground and Magpies played hard for their last home game of the season💪🖤

Here’s how it played out:

🔹 Senior Women
A nail-biter to the end!
Port Macquarie Magpies 2.5 (15)
Northern Beaches Blues 2.3 (17)

🔹 Reserves Men
Strong team effort brings home the win!
Port Macquarie Magpies 6.4 (40)
Northern Beaches Blues 4.6 (30)

Amazing Support by our Exercise Physiologist, Candy Williams! Candy was the Sports Trainer and First Aid helper for the blues! Also their number one support with the nail biting finishing match for the women's team scoring their wining goal minutes before sirens sound!

One win each and a whole lot of heart from both teams. Well done to all the players, coaches, and supporters who braved the wet!

What Is Manual Therapy – and Is It Right for You?

Manual therapy is a hands-on treatment technique used by physiotherapists to help relieve pain, improve mobility, and support recovery. It’s often part of a personalised treatment plan — not just about “cracking joints” or massage.

So, what does it actually involve?
Depending on your needs, manual therapy might include:

➡️Gentle joint mobilisations
➡️Soft tissue release
➡️Muscle stretching
➡️Passive movement techniques

These techniques help reduce stiffness, improve movement, and get you back to doing the things you love — with less pain and better function.

It may be right for you if you’re experiencing:

➡️Joint pain or stiffness
➡️Muscle tightness or reduced flexibility
➡️Neck or back pain
➡️Recovery from injury or surgery
➡️Chronic conditions like arthritis

Your physiotherapist will assess your condition and goals to determine whether manual therapy is suitable — and combine it with tailored exercises and movement strategies to support long-term results.

Foam Rolling 101: Unlock Your Body’s Potential! Feeling tight, stiff, or sore?

Meet your new best friend: the foam roller! 🙌

Foam rolling is a simple but powerful technique that helps release muscle tension, improve flexibility, and boost circulation—all by targeting your fascia (the connective tissue around your muscles). It’s like giving your body a deep tissue massage… anytime, anywhere!

✅ Why it works:
Foam rolling uses gentle pressure and rolling motion to break up knots, reduce inflammation, and improve mobility—especially before or after a workout.

✅ How it helps with physio:

In physiotherapy, we use foam rolling to:

Speed up muscle recovery

Improve range of motion

Support injury rehab

Enhance stretching results by relaxing tight muscles first

💡 Want to roll smarter, not harder? Ask your physio for personalised foam rolling tips tailored to your body’s needs!
