Thanks for sharing ! “ Do you ever find yourself stuck feeling guilt or shame about a past mistake? I definitely have moments that I replay in my head a little too often. 👀 Part of me feels like it’s good to remind myself of past mistakes so that I don’t repeat them, but sometimes it turns into self-punishment. 💕 I want to remind you that you can always start over, make amends, or offer yourself some grace if you feel ready to do so. ❤️ Wishing you a lovely Weekend!

Meaningful analogy by Shane Jeffrey about the importance of challenging the Eating Disorder 🤩 Lets keep draining the battery! 🔋Thanks! Re-Posted • Have you heard of the ‘Battery-Box’ analogy for eating disorders and recovery? 🤔

👉🏻Our leader at ROH Shane Jeffrey likens an ED and the recovery journey to taking the lid off of a box, and draining a battery of its charge.

If a person chooses to ‘keep the lid on the box’, they are unable to learn about the thoughts, feelings and experiences potentially contributing to their ED. 📦

Whilst doing this, they continue to engage in ED thoughts, and pursue ED behaviours. This ‘keeps the battery charged’ (keeps the ED alive) and box closed. 🔋

As a person chooses to ‘open the box’ and confront uncomfortable thoughts, feelings, emotions and memories contributing to their eating disorder, they begin to formulate an understanding of why they use an ED as a coping mechanism. 🧠

Through this, they progressively become less likely to engage in ED behaviours, and thus drain the ED of its charge. ⚡️

Over time as the person builds a stronger connection with their healthy self, the ED may still lie dormant in the background, but its battery will be stripped of charge, and it will no longer impede on the person’s life like it used to. 🌈

Did you resonate with this and find it useful? 🤍

Both Dietitians and Nutritionists aim to assist in a person’s journey to reaching optimal health through food and nutrition. The main difference between the two professions is that only a Dietitian (with an accreditation from the Dietitians Association of Australia) is qualified to provide individual dietary counselling, medical nutrition therapy or clinical nutrition assessments.
Dietitians in Australia who meet strict criteria are eligible to join the Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) program. APD is the only credential for dietitians recognised by Medicare, NDIS and the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) and many private health insurers.
