🌟 Congratulations Payge!

P2P is incredibly proud to celebrate Payge, who is representing Queensland on Inclusion Australia’s Our Voice Committee – a national group dedicated to championing the voices of people with an intellectual disability.

Who is Our Voice Committee?

Our Voice gives advice to the Inclusion Australia board to make sure the voices of people with an intellectual disability are listened to. They work to:

• break down barriers,
• uphold human rights, and
• make sure all Australians with an intellectual disability are included when making big changes.

Our Voice member, Payge said, ‘I want to be a voice for other people with disability and help people with disability have their voices heard. Our Voice has given me the confidence to speak in public and at conferences.’

All Our Voice members are people with an intellectual disability, and self-advocates.

International Day of People with Disability 🌟

Today we celebrate the 1 in 6 Australians who live with disability, and the enormous value, creativity, leadership and perspective they bring to our communities every day.

At P2P, we’re proud to walk alongside so many talented people with disability who are achieving incredible things. One example among many is our Brainstorm Creative group on the Sunshine Coast, where members have been kicking goals all year - from finishing university and publishing novels, to creating comics, exhibiting artwork, and gaining real-world media experience.

And we’re so proud of our very own staff member, Payge, whose advocacy and leadership continue to shine. Payge was recently featured on ABC Sunshine Coast, speaking about her journey, her work in disability advocacy, her novel she is writing and the power of peer connection.

🎧 Listen below for a clip of Payge speaking with fellow Brainstorm Creative member, Jackson on ABC Sunshine Coast - a brilliant conversation between two emerging creatives making their mark.

Today and every day, we celebrate the voices, achievements, and contributions of people with disability. Our communities are stronger because of you.
