Quick Shoulder and Chest Stretch

Tight shoulders or chest from sitting, carrying kids, or staring at screens? Try this doorway stretch to improve posture and ease tension:

How to do it:

1. Stand in a doorway with your arms at shoulder height on the frame.

2. Step one foot forward gently, keeping your back straight.

3. Lean your chest through the doorway until you feel a stretch across your shoulders and chest.

4. Hold for 15–20 seconds, breathing calmly.

Optional: Slightly rotate your torso to stretch the upper chest and shoulders more.

5. Repeat 2–3 times, or as feels comfortable.

This simple move can help you improve posture, reduce shoulder tension, and feel lighter in everyday activities.

Some days growing a business feels like running on empty, but the small moments keep you going.

Lately, Stacey and I have been working super hard to grow S&T STEPS. Between planning classes, supporting clients, and trying to make a real difference in people’s lives, it’s easy to feel stressed and pulled in a dozen directions at once.

Then today, Jaxon jumped on me mid-workout, and it reminded me of something important: sometimes the best way to cope with stress is to pause, notice what’s happening, and allow yourself a moment of connection or play.

Even when life is busy or demanding, these small moments can reset your mind, bring a smile, and remind you what really matters. Taking a breath, enjoying the moment, and being present are all part of building resilience and supporting your mental wellbeing.

How do you give yourself a reset when life gets overwhelming? Share your strategies in the comments — We’d love to hear from you.

Some of the most powerful lessons come when you are not even trying to learn them.

Watching Tim and Jaxon walk hand in hand today, I felt it, the quiet strength in that simple gesture. It made me think about how much growth and resilience comes from showing up even when life feels heavy or overwhelming.

These moments are not about big milestones or perfect routines. They are about connection, presence, and noticing the little things. Every step they took together reminded me that true strength is built in the everyday choices we make to care for ourselves and each other.

Mental health is not just therapy sessions or structured practices. It is in the small acts of presence, the patience we give ourselves, and the love we share with the people around us. Seeing them like this reminded me that it is okay to struggle. It is okay to feel uncertain. And it is okay to take life one step at a time.

Even the quietest moments can be powerful. They heal, they strengthen, and they remind us of what really matters.

Carly has spoken! 🍷

This week’s Barbell Beast class is a 4-glass Friday - that means you can enjoy a little extra Friday fun and still crush tomorrow morning’s session.

We love seeing everyone show up, support each other, and push themselves, that’s what makes this community so strong.

Who’s joining us tomorrow? Are you ready for the 4-glass challenge? 😏

Huge congratulations to Adele for taking out this week’s challenge with a massive 30 points. She absolutely earned that crown.

This week’s challenge was a tough one. Twenty exercises and ninety seconds on each to get as many reps as you could. Everyone pushed themselves hard and the energy in the room was incredible.

Daniel came in second with 26 points and Carly followed close behind with 25. We love seeing everyone show up for themselves and for each other. You all make this place what it is.

Proud of every single one of you. Let’s see who steps up next week.

⭐ Great work team.

Watching my 4-year-old push a sled today reminded me of what real strength looks like.

Sometimes the smallest moments show us how far we’ve really come. Today it was Jaxon, pushing the sled across the gym floor, tiny legs shaking, face determined, not even noticing how heavy it was.

In that moment, it hit me. This is what strength really looks like. Showing up even when it’s hard.

When we started this studio, we were still fighting our own battles, depression, anxiety, burnout, and the constant fear of not being enough. Some weeks felt impossible. But strength doesn’t always roar. Sometimes it simply whispers: keep moving.

This photo isn’t about training. It’s about trying. About pushing forward even when your mind says stop. About showing your child, and yourself, that progress doesn’t have to be perfect to be powerful.

If today feels tough, that’s okay. You’re not behind. You’re not failing. You’re just pushing your sled, one slow step at a time, and that still counts as moving forward.

A Message from Tim: The Weight of the Juggling Act (And Why S&T STEPS Is Different).

This is a deeply personal message about the impossible pressure I felt while juggling my roles: trying to be the best dad to Jaxon, the responsible business owner, the expert PT, and the person secretly battling anxiety and depression. That fight to maintain a perfect façade while constantly struggling underneath was exhausting, making me feel isolated and like an imposter.

We didn't build S&T STEPS to be a temple of perfection; we built it to be a refuge of realness. The non-judgemental culture here is a direct result of my own need to drop the mask. It’s a space where you can scale the workout, take a break, or just talk, without ever having to apologize.

Your coach knows what it is to struggle, and we believe authenticity is the highest form of strength.

If you're carrying the weight of multiple roles and the pressure to be 'perfect' today, we simply ask: What's one thing you're letting go of this week to be kinder to yourself?

Thank you for making this community real.

We Are Done with 'No Pain, No Gain.'

At S&T STEPS, we're actively dropping the 'crush it' culture.

Soreness does not equal success. It is simply a physical sensation, and it is not a metric for your progress. Success is measured by how often you show up and how well your body recovers, allowing you to train again tomorrow.

We prioritize longevity here. If you've been punishing yourself with unnecessary intensity, we invite you to try a different, kinder approach.

Drop a comment if you agree it's time to normalize scaled effort!

A Candid Monday from Tim: Ditch the 'Crush It' Culture. The pressure to "crush Monday" is a myth we actively reject here.

Forcing max effort when you're depleted is a recipe for injury and quitting. If you're coming into the studio today, please remember our core rule: Just Show Up, Then Listen to Your Body. If that means taking a rest day, dropping the weight in your training session, or simply cutting your workout short to preserve energy - that's a massive victory.

Consistency is built on self-trust, not self-punishment.

Who's joining me in focusing on consistency today? Drop a 👋.
