Some people come into our lives and leave footprints on our hearts—this week, our team said goodbye to one of them. 🌹
We had the privilege of supporting a truly special man. He and his incredible wife welcomed us into their home, creating a space not just of care, but of compassion, humor, and deep trust. We became part of their life in ways that only this kind of journey can bring.
He faced every challenge with courage, humor, and grace far beyond measure.
He lived with a complex and often misunderstood condition—Lewy body dementia, alongside Alzheimer’s. Lewy body dementia is the second most common form of progressive dementia after Alzheimer’s, yet many people have never heard of it.
Early signs can be subtle and easily overlooked: short-term memory changes, difficulties with planning or decision-making (executive functioning), vivid hallucinations, muscle tremors, or changes in movement. These symptoms are often mistaken for other conditions, delaying the understanding and support that individuals and families need.
If you or someone you know is experiencing any of these symptoms, please speak with a medical professional—and ask the question: Could this be early signs of Lewy body dementia or Alzheimer’s? These conditions do not only affect the elderly.
In honour of this remarkable man, I hope his story helps raise awareness and encourages others to trust their instincts when something doesn’t feel right. Early recognition can make all the difference.
Rest peacefully. You were deeply respected, and you will be missed.
