Checklist for parents embarking on a long journey home with their newborn.

- Carry an infant fever-reducing syrup with you, just in case your baby develops a fever during the trip.

- If your baby cries, check if they are too hot. It's normal for their hands, feet, and nose to feel cool. If the back of their neck is warm, they are comfortably warm. Change your baby’s position; try the cradle, sultan, or tiger on the tree positions. Offer a pacifier or let your baby suck on your clean finger. Use white noise to help calm your baby.

- If your baby has nasal congestion, use a saline solution and drop about 2 ml into each nostril. This will help if there are crusts in the nose causing snuffling.

- Monitor your baby's overall behavior. Check how frequently they go to the toilet, whether their stools have foam, and look for signs of dehydration like dry mouth, fewer wet diapers, or lethargy. If your baby is active, has no fever, isn't pale, has a good appetite, and behaves normally, there's no need for concern.

Why have surrogate mother compensation rates increased?

Recently, we've received many questions about the rising compensation rates for surrogate mothers. Here are the main reasons behind this change:

1. Return to Pre-War Program Levels: The number of active surrogacy programs is gradually increasing, returning to the levels seen before the war. With more programs, there is a higher demand for surrogate mothers.

2. Fewer Candidates Available: Due to the ongoing war, many potential candidates are currently abroad, resulting in a smaller pool of available surrogates in Ukraine.

3. Limited Repeat Participation: Not all surrogate mothers are able to participate in multiple surrogacy programs, further reducing the number of candidates.

4. Higher Compensation Standards from Overseas Programs: During the early stages of the war, many surrogacy programs were conducted abroad, with Ukrainian women participating. The compensation in these overseas programs was generally higher, which has raised the overall average compensation expectations.

5. Global Inflation and Increased Cost of Living: Worldwide inflation has had a significant impact, and the cost of living in Ukraine has risen as well. These factors necessitate a higher compensation to ensure surrogate mothers are adequately supported.
