In celebration of NAIDOC Week last week, Brisbane Waters Private Hospital's staff and patients came together for two very special events to highlight the important role Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples play in our local community.
Tree Planting Ceremony
The Badjigayi tree, also known as the wattle tree, was planted by the staff of 2025 in commemoration of 50 years of NAIDOC, celebrating strength, vision and legacy.
This is a powerful cultural tree which is regarded in Aboriginal spiritual belief as the tree of life, as it is believed to be the first tree in creation, because it gives both medicine and food. As this tree grows, we hope that Australia grows to a more just and equitable future.
Central Coast NAIDOC Community Day
Held at Wyong Racecourse, this was a day to celebrate 'Strength, Vision and Legacy' and create a powerful day of culture, connection and community.
