Despite the wet weather, our Deepwater Court Open Day was a wonderful success last Thursday 14 August.

Our guests connected with staff and residents who shared their insights into what makes this retirement village so special.

We ran guided tours of available villas, followed by a delightful morning tea. It was a great opportunity for prospective residents to see some newly furnished villas, and our picturesque location in Woy Woy.

🎉 Happy 104th Birthday, Bernie! 🎉

Today we celebrate an extraordinary milestone for one of our beloved Alloura Waters residents — Bernie turns 104! Surrounded by friends, family, and lots of love, Bernie marked the occasion in style at Davistown RSL Club, with a surprise visit from Dr. Gordon Reid MP to top it all off!

Born and raised on a farm in Campbelltown, Bernie moved to Sydney at 18, met the love of his life Verna at 19, and the two went on to share 68 beautiful years of marriage. They were truly two peas in a pod.

Even at 104, Bernie is a force to be reckoned with — he still drives, does his own shopping, and takes the stairs daily to his first-floor unit. He’s also the designated chauffeur for his daughter Helen, who is 85 years old.

A sports enthusiast, Bernie’s achievements span from dirt bike racing and cricket to a hole-in-one at Campbelltown Golf Club — where he’s honoured with a plaque! Though he gave up bowls at 101, Bernie’s energy and spirit haven’t slowed down a bit.

And it must run in the family — his sister in Queensland is also approaching 100!
From all of us here at Alloura Waters, Happy Birthday Bernie — your life is an inspiration, and your presence brings joy to everyone around you. 🥳💛

Living Choice Inter Village Bowling Challenge – Winners 2025! 🎉

What a spectacular day we had on 20 June 2025 for the Inaugural Living Choice Inter Village Bowling Challenge!

A crisp winter morning set the perfect scene as our competitive (but friendly!) village tribes gathered over coffee and cheeky banter before the games began. Then… "Let the games begin!"

From the very first bowl, it was all smiles, laughter, and spirited competition. There were oohs, cheers, Skip’s wild instructions, and score-checks in disbelief. Add some delicious hamburgers for lunch, and you’ve got the recipe for a perfect day.

After 3 hours of rolling fun, Broadwater came out on top, proudly taking home the prestigious trophy once again! A huge congratulations to all who played – especially the four Broadwater staff who joined the ranks!

Living Choice Australia was proud to sponsor the day with lunch and prizes– with 75% of players scoring something special. 🙌
👏 A big THANK YOU to all the helpers who made the day run smoothly – your efforts were invaluable.

The annual ANZAC Day Races returned to The Entertainment Grounds on 25 April, with Living Choice Australia joining as a sponsor. It was a memorable day of reflection, community spirit, and celebration.

Kathy Hall, Village Manager at Living Choice Broadwater Court, attended alongside residents Don and Caroline, who took part in the ANZAC ceremony. The day also featured live entertainment, food, drinks, and family activities.

Living Choice sponsored the final race of the day, an exciting 1200m race featuring 11 horses, won by horse number 6, Xtra Approval. It was only the horse’s second race, earning its owner over $20,000.

Living Choice sponsored the Everglades Bowling Club for an extremely successful bowling carnival day. It was 2 games of 3 bowls triples and 11 ends each game. 28 teams competed in the carnival. It was wonderful to see the two greens full of bowlers from all over the coast and beyond. The weather was fantastic, but the sportsmanship and friendship were even better.

Many thanks to Everglades Country Club for always supporting this carnival and helping to ensure it runs so well.

Residents and friends recently attended the Donna Lou Fashion Parade, held Thursday 7 November where a sneak preview of the new season's fashions were showcased. Held twice yearly to preview the summer and winter collections, our residents played host to a number of visitors, with Donna Lou donating a portion of the sales back to the social committee. A great day was had by all!

We had a delightful morning tea where our amazing ambassador, Thea, shared the heartwarming story of how our relationship with the Woy Woy Public School began and has blossomed over the past decade. A big shoutout to Thea and Denise, whose dedication kickstarted this wonderful association nearly 10 years ago.

During the event, our Regional Manager, Gail Eyres, proudly presented Principal Sandy and the school’s captains and vice-captains with a $1,500 donation sponsored by Living Choice Deepwater Court.
