Happy Winter Solstice!!

🌏WELCOME TO WINTER SOLSTICE🌏

Today marks the Winter Solstice - the day with the least amount of sunlight, the shortest day of the year
Today also marks the beginning of astronomical Winter. Australia (officially) observes meteorological seasons, with Winter beginning June 1st.

Why does this happen?
The earth is on a ~23.4° tilt, and also does not travel around the sun in a perfect circle, but an ellipse. As it spins around the sun, in the middle of Winter we are at our furthest tilt from the sun.

From here, the days will gradually become longer as we head back towards Spring, but will become colder before we start warming up again, with July typically our coldest month ❄️

In true home schooling style today, I had to quickly adapt to a class of just 2 students (everyone else was sick or away!). I ended up abandoning the planned creative writing topic and went with a topic that came up when the students were sharing their 'highlight of the week'. The topic - "My Dream Home". We began by drawing and writing about our dream home, including a floor plan. The students were focused for over an hour on this task!! Both students thought that this was their best class ever!! Flexibility is the key to a happy, healthy life and often leads to unexpected gifts 🙂💜👍

Leonie has spent her life learning, growing and trying to unravel the mysteries of life. Her mother died suddenly when she was just 12 years old. Only a short time after that, her father was involved in a serious workplace accident and nearly died. These experiences forever changed life as Leonie had known it. She was thrust into confusion, loneliness, grief, pain and low self-worth.

Leonie’s journey into self began when she was about 23 yrs old. She has gained a wealth of knowledge, understanding and first hand experience into learning to live with grief, understanding relationships, personal boundaries and developing self-love & self-worth. This has translated into a deep compassion and empathy for others, be they adults, children or adolescents.

Leonie’s thirst for knowledge and understanding fueled her passion for learning and she has achieved a unique set of qualifications that support a range of services across all ages and stages of life. Leonie has continuously witnessed how each individual has their own unique set of experiences and adaptations, which impact their way of being in the world. Leonie knows first hand, that with the right support we can each explore and move through difficult situations to increase our focused awareness, so that we can live life more fully."I am passionate about supporting others to discover that journey for themselves", says Leonie.
