Learning and Inner Growth

For me as a practitioner it is fundamental to understand the importance of continued learning. Along with self-reflection we can keep refining our skills and services.

By embracing an open approach, I aim to cultivate inner growth, expand my awareness, and ultimately enhance my ability to support others.

This next learning curve will take me to learn how to teach safely and effectively support those recovering from post-traumatic stress.

This is a skill, science and researched based training course. No matter what the cause of the trauma, movement through Kriya, breath and mantra are time-tested approaches clinically demonstrated to be effective in helping people reconnect with their body, reduce symptoms, and provide the support to move from a state of reactivity to an experience of safety and calm.

Stay tuned and I very much look forward to offering this support in the near future.

Kundalini and your chakras and the Inner Weather System

The chakras are like energetic hubs or intersections in your body. Each one connects to different aspects of your physical, emotional, and mental health.
When we work with them, we start to notice patterns — where we’re open, where we’re blocked, what needs attention.

This inner “weather system” gives you clues about where energy is flowing freely and where it might be getting stuck.

Practice: Sit comfortably and bring your awareness to each chakra from the base of your spine to the top of your head. Imagine breathing into each one, visualizing its colour and quality. Take a few breaths with each.

6 Week Block - The Core Reality

The yoga sutra share that here are five types of mental projections that fill your inner perceptual space. Partially pleasant and partially creating suffering, all of them stand in the way of your ability to perceive your Self.
In our practice we look to create a change in our mental projection so our focus and perspective shifts to cultivating a more positive and balanced state.

To assist in relaxing the body the course focus is on including poses that promote relaxation and engage the parasympathetic nervous system.

"Going within" involves gradually disengaging from the external world and its distractions, allowing you to turn your attention inward.
Regular practice, even for short periods, is key to developing the ability to go deep within and begin to access deeper layers of sensation and awareness.

This course offers a supportive environment to build your skill set to be more focused, present, relaxed and content in your body.

The Diaphragm

More Than Just a Muscle.
We think of the diaphragm as just a muscle for breathing, but it’s so much more. It’s connected to your emotions, your posture, and even how you process stress.

Kundalini yoga focuses deeply on your diaphragm, when your diaphragm moves freely, it massages your internal organs, supports circulation, and helps you feel more calm and centred. When it’s tight or restricted, you might feel anxious, shallow in your breath, or stuck in your emotions.

Practice: Lie on your belly and practice diaphragmatic breathing. Feel your breath press gently down into the ground. Stay here for 3–5 minutes.

Your Spine

Your Power Line Your spine is more than a stack of bones. In Kundalini yoga, we see it as your central power line — a channel for energy to rise and flow.

When your spine is flexible and strong, everything works better. Energy moves more freely, your nervous system functions more efficiently, and your posture naturally improves. Breath and movement practices that stimulate the spine can be incredibly energizing.

Practice: Sit cross-legged and do spinal flexes (seated cat-cow) for 2–3 minutes with Breath of Fire. It wakes up your spine and energizes your whole system.

Breath as Medicine

Breath through Kundalini yoga this is a secret superpower most of us forget we have. It can calm you down, wake you up, help you focus, or help you let go. And when you start paying attention to how you breathe, your body starts to shift.

When we breathe consciously, especially into the belly, we signal to the nervous system that we’re safe. That simple switch from shallow chest breathing to deep, in Kundalini Yoga using a Praanayyam (diaphragmatic breath) can lower stress hormones, support digestion, and help you feel more grounded.

Practice: 4-7-8 breath. Inhale for 4, hold for 7, exhale for 8. Try this for a few rounds before bed or whenever you feel tension creeping in.
