Shingles vaccination
Exciting new research has shown that being vaccinated for shingles reduces risk of dementia by 20-30%, how amazing is that!
Shingles vaccination is recommended for everyone over 50 years of age, and is free for eligible Australians, including people aged 65 and over, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 50 and over, and those aged 18 and over with moderate to severe immunocompromise due to an underlying condition/treatments.
A standard two-dose schedule is recommended, with the second dose given 2–6 months after the first for most people, or 1–2 months apart for those who are immunocompromised.
Once complete, this covers you for 10 years.
