I’ve been working with a few clients recently dealing with panic attacks - and I have also shared that 2025 saw me experiencing my first ever anxiety and panic attacks also. ( thanks to my well publicised media annihilation 😭)
Sometimes your body needs something big, bold and sensory to break through a panic spiral.
If you or your loved one is having a panic attack, try one of these quick “circuit-breakers”:
✨ Sniff something strong - peppermint oil or my personal favourite - Vicks. A sudden scent can interrupt the overwhelm and pull the brain back into the present.
🍋 Suck a sour lolly - the shock of sour activates the vagus nerve and helps ground the body fast.
💦 Spray your face with cool water - it resets your nervous system and tells your brain, “You’re safe.” I personally love a water spray on the face. ( Hello perimenopause 👋)
🍃 Bach reduce remedy - an all natural pastille or drops to help with anxiety
These aren’t cures - just simple sensory hacks that can help you get your footing again.
Your body isn’t failing you. It’s asking for support. And you deserve every tool that helps.
All of these are easy to keep on hand and no one will know what they’re for. I keep them in my bag and in my car - ready to bring me back when I feel myself spiralling 💛
