A big warm welcome to Rose, our newest member of Free The Coconut teaching team!!
cousens.yoga has been a member of our community for a while now and we feel very lucky to finally have her sharing yoga with us.
We recently caught up with Rose to chat about her yoga journey so far…
🥥What keeps you coming back to your practise?
That ‘yoga feeling’ is what keeps me coming back to my practise. The presence, flow of energy and joy I experience with yoga is something I haven’t experienced with any other modality, and is what makes yoga entirely unique (and, in my opinion, entirely essential!).
🥥What initially drew you to the practise of yoga?
Initially I was drawn to yoga as a tool to help with anxiety, and a way to move my body in a low-impact, flowing way. I had no idea about the gifts that would follow.
🥥What can we expect from one of your classes?
My classes emphasise simplicity, depth, flow, and a sprinkling of playfulness and creativity, and you should expect to leave the class feeling light, energised and relaxed, never depleted. In a flow class we will systematically connect breath with movement to enhance the flow of life force (prana) in a graceful, easeful way (and yes occasionally, we will sweat!). In a yin practice expect a heart-centered, meditative mood where stillness is paramount.
🥥What elements of yoga are you excited to teach and why?
Sharing the gifts of yoga beyond the physical really excites me. I find it super inspiring to see people able to experience the depths of yoga even if they’re initially just interested in strengthening and stretching the body (which my classes will do... but this is never my primary objective). Yoga has totally transformed my relationship with myself and the world around me and it is THIS that I am always most excited to share with others.
