T O I N T E G R A T E
*combine one thing with another to form a whole

This has been on my mind and heart so much lately, in terms of my Yoga practice integrating into the rest of my life. Sometimes it can feel like we live in two different worlds or have two different lives…our Yogic life and then the rest of life.

It’s one thing to be able to release, open, and experience the peace and bliss in our bodies and minds while we are in practice. But what about when we move into our lives where there are challenges, conflicts, over-stimulation, and circumstances out of our control?? So often we fall back into our normal patterns and tighten up again, grip and clench…and it can feel soooo frustrating and like we take two steps back. (Speaking from a LOT of experience in the latter 🙋‍♀️)

My teacher Kaya spoke to this principle recently after a class and she offered this question…
“How do we not just keep that yogic experience of surrender and allowance on the ground and limited to the time when you are doing your practice.” And in reply she said…

“We stand up to integrate it into life…we can be powerful and soft at the same time.”

Integration is K E Y.

Being able to maintain our softness, curiosity, and availability even in the midst of our duties and responsibilities, and the unexpected things that life throws us…that’s the real magic of Yoga. And letting each inform the other is true Yogic practice.

We are working on this as we move through the month, and the ways we can use our physical āsana practice to tend to this integration. Think more release at the root of our spine, more lunge and the journey into standing with a soft and open heart ❤️ And we can stay open to noticing the effects, both in practice and in life.

If this speaks to you, then join us in practice as we explore.

The ripple effect of where we choose to anchor ourselves is infinite.

Here’s a story…
I decided to move one of my plants from a pot it had been in for years to a patch of dirt in the back garden. I dug it a nice big hole and filled it with soil and fertilised its feet. I tried to give it the best start, but without expectation of anything from it.

I was watering the garden last week, about 6 months after moving this plant…and I was in awe (see second slide). It had burst forth with amazing flowers I never even knew it could grow! It had never even occurred to me that it had flowers. And yet, here we are. Had I not moved this plant, I would have never even known this was possible. And the plant would have never had the chance to grow its flowers. And the bees would’ve never had the chance to taste their sweet nectar, and so on and so forth it goes. All it needed was a different place to anchor, perhaps different nutrients, different sunlight, different resources available to it.

And so it bears repeating…the ripple effect of where we choose to anchor ourselves is infinite.

And also…don’t write yourself off. This flowering also shows us that we can surprise ourselves…there are things we have yet to witness, aspects of ourselves we have yet to see, layers we have yet to shed, and versions of ourselves we haven’t even met yet.

Yoga is here to remove the obstructions so that it can all be revealed. ✨

If you’d like to join us in practice, we meet every Sunday morning and Wednesday evening. Link in bio to book. ❤️

Coming to you from a totally fried and imperfect human.

This month we are going to be delving into this question in our Yoga practice…I’ve been contemplating it a lot. (See slide 2)

I am still figuring it out, but what I know for sure is that to find our anchor, we have to slow down. We have to be still, and listen for it deep within. We have to connect with ourselves. (See last slide for an awesome quote I found recently from Brene Brown on this topic.)

This can seem like a really vague and hard-to-grasp concept. How do we “connect” with ourselves? How do we stay in the present moment long enough? Well there are lots of ways, as many ways as there are humans.

And one way I love to find that connection is through practicing and teaching Yoga. And let me tell you…slowing down is HARD. Being still is HARD. Letting go is HARD.

But thats why we practice it. We show up and see what happens, we show up and get still and wait with reverence and patience. We honour the body and ourselves with gentle movements that release deeply held tension…So we can see and know clearly, without obstruction, how it feels to be US. So we can find our anchor.

I am looking forward to holding this space for you. Again and again.

It is such an honour.

If you desire to know what this would feel like for you…click the link in my bio to book. No requirements or experience necessary. Just a curious heart.

Xx

Hi! It’s been a while!!! Just thought I should say hello 👋🏽 and check in with this beautiful community.

As you know I’ve been deeply entrenched in mummyland with my three beautiful boys and I can’t believe our baby Foy is 3.5 months already! 😳🥹

I’ve also just had my sister and her family visiting from the States which was full of lovely adventures and soulful good times 🙌

I wanted to let you know I’ve been slowly getting back into my personal practice and it has felt like the sweetest coming home. Although I’m not quite ready to return to teaching classes, I’ve been thinking about all you wonderful humans and miss being in practice together.

In being patient with myself and my own needs and those of my family, I’m taking a bit more time to navigate what teaching again will look like in this beautiful balancing act called life. But I wanted you to know I’m still here (sometimes hanging on by a thread! 🤣😝) and I have faith it will all unfold as it should.

It’s been so lovely running into some of you in town and I look forward to a regular meeting in practice when the time is right.

Watch this space and be sure to check your emails for updates!

Sending y’all love! Xx
