Today is World Asthma Day.
And the theme for this year highlights an urgent need - everyone aged 12 and over with asthma should have access to anti-inflammatory inhalers. Because asthma isn’t just symptoms, it’s inflammation in the lungs.
Treating that inflammation – by using an anti-inflammatory reliever instead of just a blue puffer for people aged 12 and over – can help reduce the risk of serious flare-ups and asthma attacks.
You can find out more information about anti-inflammatory relievers by visiting Asthma Australia’s website at https://asthma.org.au/medicines/anti-inflammatory-relievers/
And here are some simple tips to help keep symptoms under control:
💊 Take your asthma medication as prescribed.
🍃 Know your triggers (such as cold air, smoke, dust or pollen) and try to avoid them.
🫁 Carry your reliever (puffer) with you at all times.
📄 Have an up to date Asthma Action Plan.
🩺 See your GP regularly to review your asthma management.
