Growing Bones

Growing Bones Osteopathy + Movement Therapy for Children & Adults ADULTS
As we age, our body's ability to self-heal generally decreases.

Growing Bones provides holistic health care and movement therapy for babies, children, teenagers and adults in Seddon, VIC. Our intention to support the physical, social and emotional health & wellbeing of the individual, and promote enjoyable social relationships in families and the community. CHILDREN
We understand physical, emotional and social environmental influences shape the way that children grow and develop. Services for babies and children including osteopathy, aromatherapy and massage, plus movement therapy, work to release areas of tension in the physical body. Our goal is to create a balanced physical and emotional foundation within the infant and child, to support free exploration, healthy emotional responses and physical growth towards full potential. Activities that we once found easy, become more taxing, and our recovery time becomes longer. Services including osteopathy, aromatherapy and massage, plus movement therapy, work to ensure the maturing physical body remains flexible, balanced and functional throughout the lifespan. MOVEMENT THERAPY
Movement is central to life, our bodies are designed to move. Healthy movement and postural patterns support not only physical health, but also emotional health and self esteem. Growing Bones offers both individualised movement therapy, as well as Group Classes.

So we are SUPER EXCITED to be part of this much needed study by PhD student (and osteopath) and Kirsty Greenwood!

How’s the start of term 2?

We started this with kids (5 and 7 years) at the start of the year - (keen to try anything after enormous nagging and rushing to get to school at the end of 2024!)

It’s defiantly decreased the stress and nagging of getting out the door in the mornings… worth a try!

As osteopaths we can often feel what dehydrated body tissues feel like- tight and boggy.

Dehydration is one of the main contributors to ‘brain fog’ fatigue and headaches.

Drinking water (and clear fluids) is one of the cheapest and easiest ways to boost your health.

PRO TIP: set up your desk with a variety of fluids and if you really need to, set mini alarms through the day to help you drink up!

Pictured here is just under 2L of fluids. Everyone’s fluid needs are different- take into account heat, exercise, and water from fresh fruit and veggies.

If you need more reasons to drink up, here are a get from Harvard Health:
🌊carrying nutrients and oxygen to your cells
🌊flushing bacteria from your bladder
🌊aiding digestion
🌊preventing constipation
🌊normalizing blood pressure
🌊cushioning joints
🌊protecting organs and tissues
🌊regulating body temperature
🌊maintaining electrolyte (sodium) balance

Osteo appointments are unique as they are longer than most other type of therapy appointments… and there is always time for general chat amongst education and treatment plans.

One thing that comes up time and again is the bittersweet milestones your LAST baby achieves… amazing they are doing it, and so sad that you’ll never experience this moment again.

The following is for all the parents who have their babies starting a new chapter….
❤️❤️❤️
You came into this world
All pink and squished and noisy
I held you close to my chest and told you that I loved you
And placed your tiny hand in mine

Everyday I learnt more about you
Every night we spent hours together
As I fed you and thought about who you would become
With your tiny hand in mine

I worried about you, because I cared so much
I showed up for you everyday
Inside sometimes I was trembling and scared
But gently held your tiny hand in mine anyway

You grew bigger and learnt so much
And my heart began to light up with joy
All these moments we had created together
We’re changing me for the better
You took my hand and led me into your world

Your world of curiosity, texture, movement
Peace just in the discovering
Teaching me to value the chaos, let go of perfection
And jump into life raw, whole, here
With your little hand in mine

And today my baby
You’ve started a journey without me
I’ve let go of your hand for a little while
As you use them both in the world beyond home
So big, so brave, so strong

I am thankful for every moment we’ve shared together
The hardest and the brightest- they all make us

And as you grow bigger each year
I hope these memories with me will stay in your heart
And whenever you need, guide you back home,
Where I’ll always be, ready to take your hand in mine.
❤️❤️❤️

Good food, good company and plenty of laughs!

Last night our amazing group of practitioners and staff celebrated another great year together!

Stealing Santa has become a yearly favourite tradition and we are blessed with the company of Paris (who came all the way from Wangaratta!) and Brittany with her beautiful little girl (currently on Mat leave).

We love what we do and wouldn’t be here without YOU choosing us to look after you.

Thanks to our wonderful community as we approach the end of our 11th year in the inner west ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
