Over the past week, I’ve heard of two separate su***des that have rocked small country communities.
And when something like this happens, the question I hear over and over again is:
Why?
Why would someone do that?
Why didn’t anyone see it?
Why would they leave their family?
It’s a natural question. But the truth is… there is rarely just one answer.
Every person carries their own story.📖
Their own pressures.
Their own expectations.
Their own silent struggles.
What I’ve also noticed over the years, both personally and professionally, is that when people ask “why”, it often brings something up inside themselves too.
Because not just su***de but death itself doesn’t just affect one person.🥺
It touches families.
Friends.
Communities.
And it can stir up our own memories, fears, questions, and experiences.
I know this personally.🙋
Su***de has touched my own family across generations. And there have been times in my life where I have sat in very dark places myself.
So, I understand the searching for answers.
But what I have come to realise is this:
There's no one explanation that fits every story and there is no single solution that will solve the problem.
Sometimes what people are carrying is far heavier than anyone around them can see. Sometimes it’s pressure, expectations, isolation, comparison, or feeling like they are not enough.
And sometimes it’s a life that has drifted so far from what truly matters to them that they feel lost inside it.
What was… does not have to be what will be.
Over the years I’ve had many people sit with me and share things they’ve never spoken about before.
Not because I had all the answers.
But because they knew they were sitting in a space where they could ask the questions, unpack what was coming up for them, and begin to make sense of their own story.
And sometimes that is where the real shift begins, when someone finally feels safe enough to explore what they have been carrying.
My heart goes out to every family and community who are hurting right now.💕
If these events have stirred something up for you, please know there are safe spaces where those conversations can happen ✨
