𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝟭,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗗𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿!

From conception to age 2, nutrition shapes your child’s lifelong eating habits and health.

Our dietitian in Yea, who is a mother herself, can help to support you around:
- Pregnancy & breastfeeding nutrition
- Introducing solids (the when, where, why, what & how that every mum needs to know)
- Fussy eating strategies for young children
- Nutrition support around management of food allergies, constipation, and growth concerns in young children

By getting the right support, you can help to ensure you are doing everything you can to meet your child's nutrition needs, and can help save a lot of stress down the track around family mealtimes which many family's struggle with.

📞 If you are interested in seeing our dietitian for any of the reasons above or to discuss any other nutrition concerns, please ask your GP to send a referral or call our intake service on 5736 0448 to enquire.

A new, world first oral cancer screening program at the Yea Saleyards.

Yea & District Memorial Hospital is excited to launch MouthMap — an innovative digital health tool designed to improve access to oral cancer screening for rural communities.

What is MouthMap?
MouthMap uses high-quality medical photography to take detailed images of a person’s mouth. These images are then reviewed by specialist doctors, allowing expert advice without the need to travel long distances.

Why does it matter?
Oral cancer cases are gradually increasing across Australia. Early detection is important and can lead to better treatment outcomes.

Why launch it at the Saleyards?
Through the YDMH Saleyards Program, free health clinics are delivered monthly in a familiar and accessible setting at the heart of the local farming community.

Proudly supported by the Rotary Club of Yea, whose generous funding has enabled this initiative to be delivered locally.

Join Us
For the launch on the 1st of May 2026 11:30-12:00pm
at the Yea Saleyards

RSVP not required by encouraged for catering.

Alcohol and other substances can have a bigger impact on your mental health than you might realise.

While they may feel like a way to cope in the moment, over time they can increase anxiety, lower mood, disrupt sleep, and make it harder to manage stress or emotions.

You might notice:
• Feeling more anxious or low after drinking or using
• Poor sleep or constant fatigue
• Mood swings or irritability
• Relying on alcohol or substances to get through the day
• Losing motivation or feeling stuck

It can become a cycle—using to feel better short-term, but feeling worse in the long run.

The good news is, support is available—and it doesn’t have to be all or nothing.

At YDMH, we offer non-judgemental, confidential support to help you explore your relationship with alcohol or substances and how it’s impacting your mental health.
Whether you’re thinking about cutting back, taking a break, or just want to talk—it’s okay to reach out.

You don’t have to do it alone.

That period after the crisis response fades is often one of the hardest—and most overlooked—times following a bushfire.

When the trucks leave, donations slow, and attention shifts elsewhere, many people experience what’s known as the “recovery dip.” Even if things seemed okay at first, this stage can feel unexpectedly heavy.

You might notice:
• An emotional crash as adrenaline wears off
• Feelings of loneliness after the rush of support
• Anxiety, poor sleep, or irritability showing up later
• Grief—not just for homes, but for routines, identity, land, and community
• Guilt, especially if others were more affected
• Frustration and fatigue from rebuilding, insurance, and paperwork

🚩 Signs someone might be struggling:
• Withdrawing from others
• Increased alcohol or substance use
• Ongoing low mood or feeling numb
• Trouble sleeping or concentrating
• Feeling stuck or hopeless

What helps:
• Regular check-ins with family, friends, and neighbours
• Reconnecting with community—sharing meals, attending local events
• Remembering: it’s common to feel worse later

You’re not alone in this.
YDMH offers flexible support to meet you where you are. The Murrindindi Mobile Health Van is out in the community, and we also offer telehealth, home visits, or appointments in the office.

Please reach out—support is always here.
