The Community Health team at Yea & District Memorial Hospital has organised an interactive playgroup for families with young children to relax, socialise, and enjoy quality time together.

We have arranged various engaging activities, along with toys, songs, and games for the little ones affected by the bushfires.

This gathering also offers a chance to connect with additional hospital services while the kids are entertained.

Join us for a morning filled with laughter and bonding for our youngest community members!

All activities will be thoughtfully crafted and led by a qualified kindergarten teacher, allowing parents the chance to connect while their children participate.

Keep fluids up during hot weather.

Staying hydrated is one of the best ways to protect your health in a heatwave.

Try this:
• Keep a water bottle nearby
• Sip water often, even if you’re not thirsty
• Limit alcohol and sugary drinks
• Eat water-rich foods like fruit and salads

Check in on older neighbours or family — they may not feel thirsty even when dehydrated.

If you’re feeling dizzy, weak, or unwell, don’t ignore it — seek help early.

In an Emergency always call 000.

As we come into another heat wave it it important to take extra care of yourself and your family/friends in the heat.

Hot weather can put extra strain on your body — especially for older adults, babies, and people with health conditions.

Simple things that help:
• Drink water regularly (don’t wait until you’re thirsty)
• Wear loose, light-coloured clothing
• Stay inside during the hottest part of the day
• Use fans or air-conditioning where possible

If you’re feeling dizzy, weak, or unwell, don’t ignore it — seek help early.
