Hey everyone! 👋

I’m Mady, and I’m beyond excited to be joining The Bump Clinic team! 🎉 I’m currently studyingying my Diploma in Remedial Massage studies, and my journey into this field has been deeply personal and incredibly rewarding.

I live here in beautiful Yeppoon with my husband and our one-year-old son 👶—wow, time really does fly! ⏳ Originally from Melbourne, I made the big move in 2019. Before maternity leave, I worked in the legal industry ⚖️, but becoming a mother gave me a new perspective. I discovered a true passion for women’s health and the incredible journey of motherhood.

Funny enough, my journey to The Bump Clinic started when I was a patient myself! 🤰 Chloe treated me during pregnancy and postpartum, and her knowledge and support were life-changing. I leaned on her expertise more times than I can count, and that experience inspired me to step into this world myself.

Now, nearly a year later, I’m so grateful for the opportunity to be part of this amazing team! 💜 I can’t wait to meet all of you, support women on their own motherhood journeys, and grow in this incredible space.

✨ Incredible Patient Win! ✨

One of my lovely patients came in for a birth preparation appointment, and her baby was sitting in a less-than-ideal position (ROA). With some targeted physiotherapy, bodywork, and hands-on treatment, we worked on releasing tension and creating space in her body…

And guess what? By her midwife appointment that afternoon, baby had moved into the optimal LOA position! 🤯🙌

Despite the misconception that pelvic floor exercises are only necessary after vaginal births, women who have C-sections can also experience pelvic floor issues and can greatly benefit from pelvic floor exercises ✨

Contrary to popular belief, pelvic floor weakness is more commonly related to the pregnancy, rather than the act of giving birth itself. The weight and position of the growing baby, along with hormonal changes, can put significant strain on the pelvic floor muscles during pregnancy 🔥🤰🏻

So whatever birth you are planning for, we suggest checking in with a physiotherapist with experience in women’s health, to find out which exercises are best for you (you may need to relax rather than strengthen) and for guidance on how to do them correctly!

Hey Mummas! ☀️

I hope all of my past, present and future patients have had a well rested holiday period, filled with love and laughter! 🎅🏼

I have officially landed back in Australia, after a beautiful 2 weeks away in Fiji with my family 🏝️

As I was mostly off grid, I will be using this week to get back to all of your messages and inquires. Thank you to everyone for having patience with the replies while I switched off and enjoyed the precious time with my family! However, I am now back, refreshed and oh-so motivated for this coming year! 🥳

I am looking forward to continuing my dream job and meeting a lot new faces this year 🥰

Calf cramping waking you up at night in pregnancy? 💤

Calf cramping is quite common in pregnancy, especially within the third trimester. It can be due to:
👣 Changes in circulation
👣 Increased loading on your calves (due to natural changes in posture and centre of gravity)
👣 Magnesium or Calcium deficiency
👣 Dehydration

What can a physio do about it?
🧠 Muscle tissue release work
🧠 Deep tissue massage
🧠 Trigger pointing
🧠 Dryneedling and acupuncture
🧠 Prescribe compression socks or garments
🧠 Show you targeted stretches and mobility movements
🧠 Remind you to drink plenty of water and get in touch with your midwife or OB in regards to bloods to check your magnesium and/or calcium levels!

Whether you have had a planned or emergency C-Section, we are here to help you navigate your recovery journey as best as you can!

I have found that there is a gap in formation provided to patients before and after having a C-Section. Usually a mum is told not to lift anything heavier than your baby and no driving until your 6 week GP appointment. HOWEVER, THERE IS SO MUCH MORE you can be doing to optimise your recovery, especially in the first 6 weeks! 🙋🏼‍♀️

If you have a planned C-section we can still see you for a birth preparation appointment. This is where we go through:
✨ Pelvic floor function and stretching (getting ready for postpartum)
✨ What to expect in your surgery and recovery ward
✨ What you can do in those first few days and weeks post surgery
✨ Timelines and exercises to start scar management treatment and core recovery
✨ What to wear for postpartum core recovery at each week stage postpartum
✨ You will receive my C-SECTION RECOVERY GUIDELINE
✨ You will also receive a home program to complete in the first 6 weeks!

If you are an existing patient of mine and end up with an emergency C-Section, I send you my C-SECTION RECOVERY GUIDE AND exercise/movements program to complete in the first 6 weeks, for free 👍🏼
