Update: All Sold

I’m moving out & need to move all these Coffee Stain paintings along. These are actually A4 size high quality photos of the originals in frames.

I’m happy for them to go to someone who likes quirky for just $20 each. I am happy to negotiate if you take all 8 of them.

The last pic is a high quality print on canvas which can go for $50. I have 2 of them (they cost me $100 each to have printed).

Let me know if you’re interested. Pickup is from Barlows Hill (Yeppoon) or I can deliver within the Capricorn Coast or post at your expense.

Just in case anyone is wondering, I am not holding any classes at present.

I taught Right Brain Genius for 20 wonderful years but unfortunately marketing is not one of my stronger skills. (Nor do I want it to be).

No I’m over trying to convince people the importance of balancing the two sides of their brain through simply learning how to draw.

Don’t get me wrong, I love teaching, I love more, the amazing life changing testimonials I constantly receive.

No, the only way I’ll be teaching again will be if a group approached me & asked for me to teach them. In a heartbeat ❤️

All I can say to you now is, if you have’nt already, then find a way to be creative, as often as you possibly can. ❤️❤️❤️

About 2 years ago, I broke my knee & had to keep my leg in a brace & stay off it for nearly 8 weeks. Until my accident, I was a runner. So for me to not move much for 8 weeks was quite a challenge.

That’s when I found Diamond Art. I did so many of them & highly recommend for anyone incapacitated, for whatever reason, to try doing some. I gave most of them away to friends & family who loved them.

Eventually, I ended up with heaps of spare diamond beads. (Not real ones unfortunately). I wanted to do something more creative so, now about 6 weeks in, I got a lift into town to buy a canvas. I then went through some old Coffee Stain Paintings & cut out different characters.

It was quite a process. Especially waiting for the paint to dry. Then playing around with different designs before gluing them on & finally gluing on all the diamond beads.

The Coffee Stains are based on lesson 8 of a Drawing course I have taught for more than 20 years. I love doing them so much, they come from the same part of my brain as my dreams.

When I was younger I used to fly in my dreams all the time. I flew so much that eventually I became a teacher of flight & would teach everyone in my dreams how to do it. I feel like these Coffee Stain characters are from my dreams.

Zoom in & enjoy. Prints on canvas or Perspex available to order❤️

Right, what’s gonna happen next?

This is what happened yesterday at The Creek Sessions in Yeppoon as Artist in Residence.

What an interesting process. 3 hours to splatter the canvas (I used phalo blue watercolour paint, very situated in water).

Then I realised it needed the sun to help to dry quickly, so I carefully carried it out, with the help of another woman.

Need some paper towels to blot up the puddles. Lucky I was prepared.

Once those puddles were absorbed into the paper, it was dry enough to stand it up on the easle.

Ok what is it? What can I see? No pressure! I turned it several times. There’s a face. Always faces. There’s a body. Ok it goes this way. There were a few splatters that got painted over.

My first thought was to start giving the characters I saw some colour. I have a good beige ready to go which satisfied my left brain realist but as I loaded my brush, I changed my thoughts to use this colour to find the negative spaces.

Next step, find the edges with my sharpies. There were all these other shapes & angles that took that sharpie on an adventure. I don’t know what I’m doing, I’m just allowing myself to follow what’s there with no expectations.

I know I only have 3 hours & this is only the beginning of something potentially amazing.

And so I start dripping more paint in various colours down the canvas. Haha. It doesn’t matter. Look, now they’re all in jail. Not sure if I’m happy with that. But it doesn’t matter. I can change anything I don’t like. I am free.
