💜Celebrating Women’s Health Week! 💜

This year, we were proud to be part of two powerful Women's Health Week events in Rockhampton, co-hosted by and our Local MP for Rockhampton, Donna Kirkland - committed advocates for women's health!

👉 On Monday, we joined the evening event “Beyond the Symptoms”, which focused on endometriosis and pelvic pain. We heard from local health professionals (including all things pelvic health from Mischa!) along with Donna Kirkland & Jess Taylor, CEO of QENDO, who shared lived experiences and professional knowledge to raise awareness and offer support.

👉 The follow morning, we gathered again for “From Flux to Flourish”, a breakfast event designed to support women navigating perimenopause and beyond. Local experts shared practical advice, personal journeys, and strategies to help women stay well and thrive through the many changes of midlife and later life.

At both events, we were thrilled to be part of the mini expo, where we hosted our stall and had so many fantastic conversations about all things women’s health 💬

Thank you to everyone who visited us - we loved connecting with you, hearing your stories, and sharing resources to support your health journey. Events like these are a reminder of the strength and power in coming together as a community to inform, support, and uplift one another.

We’re already looking forward to next year! Until then, let’s keep these important conversations going 💜

**Women’s Health Week is a national campaign held in the first week of September, dedicated to empowering women across Australia to focus on their health and wellbeing. It's a week of open conversations, learning, and connection—covering vital topics such as endometriosis, pelvic pain, perimenopause, and the overall journey of women's health across every life stage.

Fibre lovers! We have exciting news!

If psyllium, Metamucil or Benefiber make you feel queasy or bloated, but your physio or doctor has recommended a fibre supplement to help with symptoms like constipation, faecal urgency or IBS - chat to us about Tumme Sterculia Fibre Capsules!

(Pelvic floor physios get excited about the weirdest stuff, we know 😅)

Thanks to the organisers of this weekend's CQ GP Conference at CocoBrew Rockhampton - had a great time connecting with like-minded local clinicians and meeting some new GP faces in the CQ community ♥️

Appreciate the invite to talk about all things perimenopause and pelvic health - a much important yet often underrecognised topic!

(Hopefully we now have a few more local GPs confident to refer to women's health physios for those pesky pelvic floor problems 🙃)

Speaking of which... have you done YOUR pelvic floor exercises today?? 💃

✨When Should I Have My First Antenatal Physio Appointment? ✨

If this is your first pregnancy (or even your second, third - any pregnancy, really!) it's a great idea to check in with your women's health physio to make sure you're taking care of those niggles, able to stay active, feeling well prepared for birth, and getting into those pelvic floor exercises early (even if you're planning a C-section!).

**If you're having any bladder or pelvic floor issues ALREADY, if possible we actually recommend getting on top of those issues as early as possible, even BEFORE planning a pregnancy (as symptoms can often get trickier to manage...)

💡 Ideal time for your first appointment: early in the second trimester

As that first-trimester nausea (hopefully!) starts to ease and energy levels pick up again, the start of trimester two is the perfect time to book your first antenatal physio session.

Here’s what you can expect at your first appointment:

🗣️ A detailed one-on-one consultation
We’ll chat through your medical history, current symptoms, exercise habits, and any goals or concerns you have for pregnancy, birth, or postpartum recovery.

🤰 Education on safe exercise & pelvic health
Learn how to move safely during pregnancy, plus happy bladder & bowel tips. We'll teach you pelvic floor training that’s specific to your assessment and needs (and hopefully help you to prevent issues like pelvic girdle pain and minor bladder leaks before they even start!)

📝 Early birth planning conversations
We’ll explore your birth preferences and goals now, and build on them as you get closer to delivery—so you're feeling informed, confident, and supported!

Get in touch today to get started with your antenatal physio journey, for an empowered pregnancy, birth and beyond x

Biloela peeps: Cat's had a couple last-minute cancellations for her Bilo clinic THIS MONDAY at the CRC!

(Cat is also happy to see general musculoskeletal/sports injury issues if you aren't specifically needing pelvic floor help - unlike Mischa, who has forgotten entirely how to do "normal" physio 😅)

Jump online to check availability and book at pelvicfixphysiotherapy.com.au/biloela-bookings or outside of office hours you can also text us on 0427826466 to arrange!

Otherwise, continue to enjoy your weekend (and don't forget those pelvic floor exercises if you need them 😘)

🔴It's National Pain Week - let's talk Period Pain! 🔴

An often normalised pain women can experience is period pain (usually just prior or during bleeding, but it can even strike mid-cycle around ovulation too!)

Whilst period pain is common, it shouldn’t interfere with your life...

Let’s break it down:

What’s normal?

✅ Mild cramping during the first 1–2 days of bleeding, easily managed with simple pain relief medication or heat
✅ Mild one-sided cramping during ovulation lasting no more than a day
✅ Mild abdominal bloating.

What’s NOT normal?

❌ Pain that disrupts work, school, or daily activities
❌ Needing heavy or continuous pain medication
❌ Vomiting, nausea, or loss of consciousness from pain
❌ Emergency department visits.

If your period pain falls into the “not normal” category, we can usually help!

Pelvic health physiotherapy works to equip you with a variety of tools and strategies to improve your period pain. This might include relaxation exercises and pelvic floor down-training, using TENS for pain relief, and learning to reduce systemic inflammation and triggers.

Everyone's pain management "toolkit" looks a little different!

📅 Ready to take control of your pelvic pain and period health? Book a consultation today with one of our friendly women's health physios x
