✨Are you holding your breath (and pelvic floor?)✨

Feeling tense? It’s time to give yourself permission to pause and
unwind. Just like any other muscle group in your body, your pelvic
floor deserves some TLC too! 💖

Practicing relaxation techniques can help alleviate pelvic floor
tension and symptoms like pelvic pain, painful s*x and bladder
urgency.

Here are a few ways to help you relax your pelvic floor:

🧘‍♀️Deep Breathing: Inhale deeply through your nose, letting your belly
rise, and exhale slowly through your mouth. This can help calm your
nervous system and release tightness in your pelvic floor on the inhale.

🧘‍♀️Gentle Movement: Try gentle stretches or yoga poses to encourage
relaxation. Focus on movements that promote pelvic mobility and
release tension. We love Child's Pose, Happy Baby and Reclined Goddess!

🧘‍♀️ Mindfulness: Take a moment to connect with your body. Visualisation
can be powerful—imagine your pelvic floor gently softening with each
breath.

🧘‍♀️ Self-Care: Treat yourself to a warm bath or a quiet moment with a
good book or herbal tea. Prioritising self-care can do wonders for a little nervous system reset and your overall well-being ❤️

how we can support your pelvic health journey x

✨Tips for round ligament pain in pregnancy ✨

Getting some lower abdominal pain during pregnancy? It could be round ligament pain!

Around 30% of pregnant people will experience round ligament pain, so you're certainly not alone.

If your care provider has diagnosed you with round ligament pain, we've got you sorted. Here are a few tips to get you feeling more comfortable:

👉 Move slowly when getting out of chairs and cars - break the movement into smaller pieces
👉 Try abdominal support options like tubigrip, SRC Pregnancy Shorts or Belly Bands - come in and see us in Rocky or Yeppoon and we can help you get the right product and fit!
👉Gently engage your pelvic floor and lower core before movement and transfers (and avoid the temptation to hold your breath as you go - exhale!)
👉Practice pelvic tilting and gentle pelvic mobility exercises daily.

For expert care on all things pregnancy, pelvic floor, and postnatal
recovery, give us a call on (07) 4808 2779 book an appointment online at pelvicfixphysio.com ☺️

We can't wait to support you to keep active and feel your best in your pregnancy!

If you're getting an IUD and you're concerned it might be uncomfortable, you could familiarise yourself with these hot-off-the-press best practice guidelines (you might teach your provider a thing or two 😅😭).

Our other pro tips: if you find TENS helpful for period/pelvic pain, why not ask if you can bring that along, too? Also, is "the green whistle" able to be used if needed?

💜Celebrating Women’s Health Week! 💜

This year, we were proud to be part of two powerful Women's Health Week events in Rockhampton, co-hosted by and our Local MP for Rockhampton, Donna Kirkland - committed advocates for women's health!

👉 On Monday, we joined the evening event “Beyond the Symptoms”, which focused on endometriosis and pelvic pain. We heard from local health professionals (including all things pelvic health from Mischa!) along with Donna Kirkland & Jess Taylor, CEO of QENDO, who shared lived experiences and professional knowledge to raise awareness and offer support.

👉 The follow morning, we gathered again for “From Flux to Flourish”, a breakfast event designed to support women navigating perimenopause and beyond. Local experts shared practical advice, personal journeys, and strategies to help women stay well and thrive through the many changes of midlife and later life.

At both events, we were thrilled to be part of the mini expo, where we hosted our stall and had so many fantastic conversations about all things women’s health 💬

Thank you to everyone who visited us - we loved connecting with you, hearing your stories, and sharing resources to support your health journey. Events like these are a reminder of the strength and power in coming together as a community to inform, support, and uplift one another.

We’re already looking forward to next year! Until then, let’s keep these important conversations going 💜

**Women’s Health Week is a national campaign held in the first week of September, dedicated to empowering women across Australia to focus on their health and wellbeing. It's a week of open conversations, learning, and connection—covering vital topics such as endometriosis, pelvic pain, perimenopause, and the overall journey of women's health across every life stage.

(Pelvic floor physios get excited about the weirdest stuff, we know 😅)

Thanks to the organisers of this weekend's CQ GP Conference at CocoBrew Rockhampton - had a great time connecting with like-minded local clinicians and meeting some new GP faces in the CQ community ♥️

Appreciate the invite to talk about all things perimenopause and pelvic health - a much important yet often underrecognised topic!

(Hopefully we now have a few more local GPs confident to refer to women's health physios for those pesky pelvic floor problems 🙃)

Speaking of which... have you done YOUR pelvic floor exercises today?? 💃
