Harden Hydrotherapy Pool to reopen

The Harden-Murrumburrah Local Health Advisory Committee (LHAC) is pleased to announce Harden Physiotherapy will be reopening the Hydrotherapy Pool by January 2025.

For the last two years, Alex and Liz Sherborne have been liaising with Hilltops Council about reopening the state-of-the-art hydrotherapy pool in Harden.
Alex is a highly qualified physiotherapist and Vice Chair of the Harden-Murrumburrah LHAC. Alex and Liz opened Harden Physiotherapy in January 2024.
As well as impacting the health and well-being of local residents, the pool’s closure almost three years ago had an economic impact on the local community. Many people previously travelled to Harden from towns and villages in the region (and often stayed overnight) just to use the hydrotherapy pool located at the Kruger Health and Wellness Complex in East Street, Harden.

In recent weeks, a contract arrangement to operate both the hydrotherapy pool and treatments rooms for at least the next three years was reached, and preparation to reopen the facility has begun! There is a lot of clean-up and repairs to be done given the pool and treatments rooms sat idle for such a long time, but Alex and Liz rolled their sleeves up and got stuck in to cleaning up as soon as a contract was in place.

A Harden Hydrotherapy Facebook site is already up and running and the
Harden-Murrumburrah LHAC encourages people to follow this page for updates and notices about when bookings can be made.

Alex said he is “looking forward to enhancing the treatments I provide to existing clients and enabling many others to access a hydrotherapy pool locally. As well as individuals needing therapy, we hope to welcome local sporting club members, aged care residents, and possibly even swim classes for babies in future.”
“In addition to hydrotherapy, we will continue to offer our regular physiotherapy services and will also be creating a Pilates studio space. We are excited to improve on the existing allied health services available in our region”.

Harden-Murrumburrah LHAC’s Communications Officer, Angla Leitner said “the reopening is great news for the many individuals and their families that will benefit from treatment once again being available to them locally. It will help many local residents overcome illness and injury, as well as providing many preventive health benefits for our community”

Have you heard about the NSW Police Next Of Kin (NOK) Program:
The NOK program enables vulnerable people or people living alone to record their emergency contact details with the NSW Police Force.
• The program stores the name of the registered person, their nominated NOK (spouse, children, siblings, friend etc) and/or contact details for an external care provider.
• In an emergency the information assists Police to contact the registered
person's nominated NOK and/or external care provider.
• Each registered person is assigned an individual registered NOK number.
• The NOK program is only accessible to Police and staff working for the police such as police dispatch.
Please consider if this program would benefit you or someone you know.
Joining is simple, just complete the NOK Registration form which you can find:
1. Attached to this post.
2. Pick up from any police station,

4. Or by this link:https://www.police.nsw.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0003/572394/next-of-kin-program-application-form.pdf

COMMUNITY UPDATE: In exciting news, our business is proposing to expand our operations at 2 – 20 Telegraph Road to boost our production capacity and offer even more benefits to our local region.

At Apollo, we have achieved a great deal over the last quarter of a century as a regional business.

We’re now looking to further expand our operations at 2 – 20 Telegraph Road and at next week’s Council meeting, we’re seeking sign-off to rezone our company-owned land to enable us to do this.

Our plans will start with the construction of a new purpose-built, fully enclosed loading and storage facility which will minimise any impact on amenity. Even more, our proposal also includes works to Telegraph Rd and the intersection with Murringo Road to maintain the highest standards of road safety.

We’re looking forward to strengthening our base in our home town of Young and in doing so, creating local jobs and contributing to our local economy.

Thanks to all those in the community that continue to support us as we embark on this next stage.
