When those memories come flooding back, we can’t help but share

Reflecting on our journey through the wild rollercoaster that was Covid-19, it’s hard to forget (or, let's be honest, sometimes remember) just how chaotic those days were. Dr. Wick was equipped and ready to tackle the pandemic head-on, much like a superhero in scrubs.

As we take a moment to look back, we can’t help but chuckle at the trials and tribulations we faced together. It was a real test of our teamwork – a survival reality show with none of the luxury accommodations! But here we are, emerging from the other side stronger, closer, and perhaps with a few more gray hairs, but definitely with a stronger bond as a team. Here’s to us and our ability to navigate the unexpected!

Over the last 10 years, we’ve helped bring vital health services to the Murrumbidgee region.

➡️ Opened headspace centres in Wagga Wagga & Griffith (2016)
➡️ Launched HealthPathways to support local GPs (2017)
➡️ Connected Berrigan to My Health Record – an Australian first! (2018)
➡️ Responded quickly to the COVID-19 pandemic with telehealth and respiratory clinic support (2020)

And so much more. Thank you for being part of the journey. Here's to another 10 years!

We are very excited to be apart of the Boorowa community

🌥️ Despite a cloudy sky and a brief power outage, our Open Day yesterday was a resounding success! Thanks to the incredible support from the Boorowa community and local professionals—including Kirkwood Pathology our local pharmacist the Primary Health Network team as well as our team and extended team at the practice we were able to push through these minor hiccups without missing a beat.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Wales family for their invaluable support in making this possible. From months of discussions to their decision to welcome us, their commitment has been instrumental in bringing our vision to fruition and enabling us to open the practice. Thank you!

Today the practice welcomed a surprise visit from Mr. Andrew Heap from the Primary Health Network (PHN), who has been a steadfast ally to Dr. Wick since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

We are grateful for everyone who joined us and contributed to a wonderful event.

📍Young, NSW – what a week!

Two full days at Boorowa Street Practice this week – thank you to the incredible GPs for the referrals and to every single person who showed up, rain or shine. Day 1 was gloomy, but the sun came out on Day 2 🌦☀

I’m so pleased to now be supporting people with type 1 (and type 2 occasionally) diabetes in Young. This week: ➡️ 6 new clients
➡️ 7 return clients
➡️ A couple of telehealth check-ins too

💬 These are people who haven’t always had the best chance with their diabetes care. They’ve been judged, dismissed, or told the same advice over and over again – advice that hasn’t helped. But they haven’t given up – and I won’t either.

Here are just a few stories:
🔹 One man tried the insulin pump for 6 months. It didn’t suit his lifestyle, and he gained weight despite no big changes to his bg levels or food choices. We’ve transitioned him to U200 and are now optimising his oral meds and insulin to get him more stability on injections. It doesn't have to be the right thing for everyone.

🔹 Another person with type 2 diabetes switched from Novomix to Ryzodeg, 3 months ago and now has far fewer readings above 12. They’re seeing numbers between 7–12 consistently! 🙌

🔹This week I saw several clients who’ve had type 1 diabetes for years but haven’t had consistent or helpful support. Many felt judged, were told they weren’t trying hard enough, or were given the same advice over and over – so they stopped seeking help.

They’ve faced challenges, don’t have private health insurance, and rely on healthcare or pension cards – but they want to do better. And now, they’ve found their way to me.

The best part? I get to tell them that there are ways to access an insulin pump without private cover. Seeing their relief feels like being the diabetes Santa 🎅🏼

🎉🚧 Exciting Updates from Our Practice! 🚧🎉

We are pleased to announce the completion of our new consult rooms.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Deasey Building team for their exceptional work over the past several months. Additionally, we appreciate the contributions from Langford Plumbing, Hobsons Electrical, and all other tradespeople involved in our renovation efforts.

Renovations are still underway as we continue to enhance our practice. We look forward to sharing the final results with you soon as its all looking amazing

Friday afternoon the team rolled up their sleeves and got hands-on with our annual CPR training! 🩺💪

Why is CPR so important? Because it can truly be a lifesaver! Knowing how to perform CPR can double or triple a person’s chance of survival during a cardiac emergency. We might not wear capes, but we’re committed to being ready for anything!

A huge shoutout to Kim at Hilltops First Aid for making the session engaging and informative. And to our fantastic team—thanks for showing up and brushing up on these vital skills!

🌟 We're incredibly proud to shine a spotlight on our amazing RN Roxy who travelled to Gundagai today! 🌟

Recently, Roxy was personally selected by our local PHN to travel to Gundagai, where she shared her expertise in spirometry with other local healthcare providers in the area.

Her dedication to improving respiratory care and educating others truly embodies the spirit of our practice.
