🍚 RICER vs πŸ•ŠοΈ PEACE & LOVE β€” What’s Better for Injuries?

For years we were told to use RICER (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation, Referral) for sprains and soft tissue injuries.
While easy to remember, we now know that too much rest and icing can actually slow healing by blocking the body’s natural repair process.

That’s where PEACE & LOVE comes in β€” a more modern, evidence-informed way to guide recovery from day one πŸ‘‡

✌️ PEACE – Early Stage

P – Protection: Short-term rest, avoid things that flare pain
E – Elevation: Limb above heart to help swelling
A – Avoid Anti-inflammatories: Don’t overuse ice or anti-inflammatories
C – Compression: Bandage or tape for support
E – Education: Understand your injury, stay active in your rehab

❀️ LOVE – Recovery Stage

L – Load: Gradually get moving and strengthening
O – Optimism: Your mindset influences pain & recovery
V – Vascularisation: Light cardio to boost blood flow
E – Exercise: Targeted rehab to restore mobility, balance & strength

πŸ” Big picture:
RICER = mainly rest & ice 🧊
PEACE & LOVE = protect early, then move, load and build confidence πŸ’ͺ

If you’ve had a recent sprain or soft tissue injury, book in with our physiotherapists β€” we’ll build a PEACE & LOVE–based plan tailored just for you. πŸ™Œ

πŸ’‘ What is Dry Needling?
Dry needling is a safe, effective technique that targets tight muscle knots (trigger points) to relieve pain and tension.

Using fine needles, your physio can help:
βœ… Release muscle tension
βœ… Reduce pain & stiffness
βœ… Improve range of motion
βœ… Boost natural healing

πŸ” How Does It Work?
The needle stimulates a muscle twitch response that:
β€’ Breaks the pain cycle
β€’ Improves blood flow
β€’ Resets muscle function

Many people feel relief right away!

⚠️ What to Expect
Common side effects:
β€’ Mild soreness or bruising
β€’ Temporary fatigue

πŸ’§ Pro tip: Stay hydrated and eat before your session.

🚫 Not Suitable If You Have:
🀰 Pregnancy (especially 1st trimester)
πŸ’‰ Needle phobia
🩸 Bleeding disorders
🦴 Recent joint/valve replacements

Always tell your physio about your medical history!

🧠 Dry Needling vs Acupuncture
Dry Needling: Targets muscle trigger points based on anatomy
Acupuncture: Focuses on energy meridians and holistic balance

Ready to move pain-free? Ask us if dry needling is right for you πŸ’ͺ

How to Be Consistent with Exercise πŸ’ͺ
Starting is easy. Sticking with it? That's the challenge. Here are 3 strategies to help you show up consistently. ✨

1. Effort Over Outcome 🎯
Stop chasing perfect workouts. 🚫

Some days you'll crush it. πŸ”₯ Other days you'll barely survive the warm-up. πŸ˜… Both count equally.

Why? Life happens. Stress, sleep, work – they all affect your performance. You can't control that. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

What you CAN control? Showing up. βœ…

The shift: Celebrate effort, not just results. Consistency beats intensity every time. πŸ“ˆ

2. Make Yourself Accountable πŸ‘₯
The secret? Don't go solo. 🀝

Grab a friend for gym sessions πŸ’¬
Join a climbing gym or sports team πŸ§—β€β™€οΈβš½
Find a training partner πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈ
Jump into a run club πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ
You'll bail on yourself, but bailing on a friend? Way harder. 😬 Plus, working out becomes fun instead of a chore. πŸŽ‰

3. Visualize, Organize & Track πŸ“Š
If it's not planned, it won't happen. πŸ“…

Schedule workouts like appointments (non-negotiable!) ⏰
Track each session – app, journal, whatever works ✍️
Review your progress weekly πŸ“±
After a few weeks, you'll see the pattern. That visual proof becomes addictive – you won't want to break the streak. πŸ”₯

Pro tip: Plan your week every Sunday. Know when you're training before Monday hits. πŸ—“οΈ

The formula: Show up imperfectly, bring friends, plan ahead. πŸ’―

What's stopping you from being consistent? πŸ‘‡πŸ’

Countdown till summer!πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί

Skin cancer is Australia’s biggest cancer threat, with the highest rates globally. Understanding and preventing this disease is essential for every Australian’s health. πŸ₯β˜€οΈ

Three Critical Facts* πŸ“ŠπŸ”

1. 🎯 2 IN 3 Australians will be diagnosed by the age of 70.

That’s approximately 66% of our population! This means skin cancer will likely affect you, a family member, or close friend. The odds are simply too high to ignore. πŸ‘₯⚠️

2. β°πŸ’” An Australian Dies from Skin Cancer Every 5 Hours

We lose 5 fellow Australians daily to this largely preventable disease. πŸ˜’πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί

3. πŸ“ˆπŸš¨ 80% of All Newly Diagnosed Cancers Are Skin-Related

Skin cancer dominates Australia’s cancer statistics, affecting every community nationwide. This staggering percentage shows how skin cancer impacts virtually all Australians πŸŒπŸ’―
