“Butterfly Meditation”

In our Moving Meditations we use nature as a source of inspiration for our mindfulness practice. The spiritual meaning of the butterfly is about transformation, rebirth, and personal growth. It represents a journey of self-discovery, the ability to change and evolve. Butterflies symbolize freedom, lightness, and joy, reminding us to let go of burdens and embrace a sense of liberation.

To do the butterfly meditation:
🦋 Find a comfortable position
🦋 Quiet down the breath
🦋 Close your eyes
🦋 Imagine a butterfly
🦋 Look at the color, size and movements
🦋 Open your hands in front of the chest
🦋 Imagine you catch a butterfly in your hands
🦋 Cross your wrists
🦋 Touch your Heart, like a hug
🦋 Your hands are the wings of the butterfly
🦋 Move your hands gently and touch the chest
🦋 Practice Long, Slow, Deep breathing
🦋 In through the nose, our through the mouth
🦋 Your affirmation: I am beautiful, free, light
🦋 Repeat as long as you feel joy
🦋 At the end release the butterfly
🦋 Open your eyes

“When we observe the 5 Elements of nature, we can easily relate what we observe in the outside world to what we experience inside our mind. It is like an opportunity for connection, a union of the mind with the body. Our inner world is a vaste reflection of our outside world. When we shed light on an object outside, it almost instantly illuminates that object. A similar reaction happens when we illuminate somthing in our inside world. Observe the source, the object and its reflection. ”

Violet Light Meditation

In our Moving Meditations we practice different Taoist and Buddhist meditation techniques to explore the boundaries of our internal world. One such meditation is the “Light Meditation”. We visualize different patterns and colors of light to synchronize with the brain's natural frequencies and promote a state of deep relaxation and healing.

Practice for “Violet Light Meditation”:
Feel a gentle warmth coming from the space above your head. It is soft and comforting to you, observe its color and sense its vibration. The violet light is the hue of a beautiful evening sky filled with stars. Feel the warmth of tge violet light begin to move into your crown, gently expanding in your head and growing into a ball of light inside of you. Inhale to expand the ball, exhale to allow the light moving down the spine. As you breath, feel the vibrations into your core. Let all the muscles, tendons, vessels and bones relax. If you feel anyplace that has tension or discomfort, invite the light into that place in your body and feel it pass.

Lotus Meditation

Imagine that you are a lotus seed buried beneath a muddy lotus pond. There is mud all around you, and you can feel that clearly. Above you, above this muddy pool of dirt, are sunshine and air. You are not disheartened as you begin your journey towards the surface.

With a determined heart, you begin to wiggle in the earth. You grow roots deep, deep into the mud. Your little stem grows up slowly. Suddenly, "pop" you are out of the mud! Your stem grows higher and higher, taller and taller. You rise up slowly, fighting against the muddy water. All of a sudden, you are out of the muddy pond! You reach up towards the warm sun, shining down on you.

Your lotus bud begins to grow on top of your stem. It expands and grows larger and larger, finally bursting into full bloom. A white lotus flower. You stand beautifully above the muddy water, not dirtied by the mud from which you grow. You are white, fragrant and beautiful.

You are a beautiful white lotus flower, and your role is to remind people to rise above their defilements and sufferings, just as you are arising above the muddy water and not dirtied by the mud from which you grow.
