I am pleased to share that I had the opportunity to attend the two-day seminar on "Psychiatrische & Psychologische Rapportage als Toegang tot de Forensische Zorg in de Cariben” organized by University of Aruba.
This event was not only a chance to update and refresh my knowledge in the field but also a valuable occasion to reconnect with esteemed colleagues and forge new professional relationships. A special thank you to the dedicated professionals from the Caribbean who enriched our discussions with local perspectives and contexts. It’s crucial that we spotlight the mental health issues and forensic investigations on our islands, distinguishing them from Dutch standards. We are on the right track, and we must continue to address the remnants of colonialism within our sector.
I am so proud to see our professionals showcasing their expertise and work; Johnny Boekhoudt, Nathalie Kingsale and Jayburtt Dijkhoff, I look forward to continuing these important conversations.

Wrapping It Up with a Big Thanks!

As we wrapped up our last session last week, I couldn't help but feel grateful and fulfilled.
The Backyard Sessions turned out to be even better than I imagined! From the initial idea, to hanging out with you all in the backyard, it’s been such a fun ride.

I'm really proud of you for embracing this fresh take on mental health. We connected, learned, laughed, and took some awesome leaps out of our comfort zones together!
