Easter is a sacred time that reflects the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the message that light can follow even the darkest moments.

As we observe Easter we are reminded of all the principles we strive to nurture every day: faith, perseverance, compassion, and the belief in growth and transformation.

Easter also reminds us of the importance of community, showing kindness, supporting one another, and making space for everyone to feel seen, valued, and included. ๐Ÿ’š

From our LLST family to yours, we wish you a peaceful and meaningful Easter. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

Today we stand with others across Barbados and the wider world in recognition of World Autism Awareness Day and its theme โ€œOne Community, One Heartโ€. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™

It is a reminder that inclusion isnโ€™t just something we speak of, itโ€™s what we practise. At LLST we work diligently to create a space where individuals on the autism spectrum; and across the wider special needs community, feel welcomed, understood, and supported, while building life skills, confidence, and real opportunities to take part in the world around them.

When we show up for each other with care and patience, we become the kind of community where everyone truly belongs.

A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Kelly Padmore of DHL Barbados Ltd for visiting with us and introducing our Senior girls to the art of jewellery making. ๐Ÿ’šโœจ

Our students had a wonderful time learning how to create beaded bracelets, building new skills, and expressing themselves through artistry. They are all eager to share what they have learned and proudly show off their finished pieces! ๐Ÿ’Ž๐Ÿ“ฟ

We truly appreciate you facilitating this opportunity for creative expression, and look forward to welcoming you back again soon. ๐Ÿค

Today, March 21st, we join the world in celebrating World Down Syndrome Day

At Lifelong Skills Training, weโ€™re proud to stand with individuals with Down Syndrome and the wider special needs community as we recognise this yearโ€™s theme: . Loneliness can affect anyone, but it can be felt even more deeply when people face barriers to inclusion, understanding, and connection.
We pledge to do our part by promoting belonging, encouraging meaningful friendships, and supporting spaces where everyone feels seen, valued, and included today and every day.

The boys are hard at work clearing the land as we prepare for planting season. ๐ŸŒพ

This foundational step sets the tone for what lays ahead and we are excited to see what crops will soon take root.

Stay with us as the term unfolds and we share updates and progress along the way. ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒฑ

Our very first egg has been laid and the egg-citement around the centre is real!!โ˜บ๏ธ๐Ÿฅš

Did you know?โ€จ- Layer chickens usually start laying at around 18โ€“20 weeks oldโ€จ- A healthy layer can produce up to 300 eggs a yearโ€จ Fresh eggs go from nest to kitchen in just moments with no long supply chains needed!

Thanks to the kind donation of layer chicks, this project has been an incredible hands-on learning experience for our students, helping them gain a deeper appreciation for farm-to-table living and the care, patience, and responsibility involved in food production. From feeding and cleaning to collecting that very first egg, our students are seeing firsthand how small, intentional actions can lead to big impact.

More importantly, this initiative shows how we can actively play a role in food security, by supporting our families and contributing positively to our wider community, one egg at a time.

Hereโ€™s to many more eggs, lessons learned, and empowered futures ahead! ๐Ÿฅš๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ’š

On this day we stand with others to raise awareness about the human rights and fundamental freedoms of autistic individuals.

It is our mission to see a society that facilitates the equal participation of autistic individuals and recognises the significant contributions many of them have and continue to make towards the enhancement of our country as a whole.

This yearโ€™s theme โ€œAdvancing Neurodiversity and the UN Sustainable Development Goalsโ€ asks us to recognise the interconnectivity between the sustainability of our world and embracing the many variations in human brain function.

Through increased awareness we can foster greater education and inclusivity, while striving to reduce the societal stigmas which perpetuate inequality and encourage segregation.

Sharing more of the vibrant and creative expressions of the natural habitats found across the globe. ๐ŸŒŽ

Mixed with a sprinkle of imagination, our students have truly made this project their own by bringing to life all that they have learnt and enjoy about Grasslands, The Ocean, and The Desert. ๐ŸŒต๐Ÿช๐Ÿฆ‚๐Ÿ ๐Ÿฆ€๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿณ๐Ÿฆ‘๐Ÿชธ๐Ÿฆˆ๐ŸŒด๐Ÿ’๐Ÿฆง๐Ÿฆœ

An exploration of shape building, this weekโ€™s Creative Skills Class has been working to create abstract shapes and designs.

Using cardboard for its relative ease of use and manipulation, students combined varying shapes to discover what could be made and constructed not only with this medium but also in the real world.

Itโ€™s beginning to bloom in our Kitchen Garden!!๐Ÿ… ๐Ÿ† ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿซ‘๐ŸŒฑ

With daily watering and nurturing, our students have been able to grow an array of herbs and vegetables free of pesticides or other harmful chemicals.

Throughout the process they have also learnt about the importance of including them in their meals to ensure a healthy, balanced and nutritious diet.

Itโ€™s always exciting to share our vision for Special Needs Education with others.

A visit by students of The Ross University School of Medicine provided an opportunity for them to not only engage with our students within the class room but also allowed them to learn about the various programmes and approaches we adopt to support the continued growth and development of each student.

We wish them continued success in their studies and hopefully look forward to seeing them again.

Our students continue to enjoy exploring natural habitats and are making wonderful progress on their individual projects.

This activity allows each student to creatively express their interpretation of each habitat and some of the creatures that can be found there.

Captured here are some of the students in our Developmental and Life Skills Level 1 classes as they work on designing their dioramas.
