On Wednesday March 25, 2026, Nigel Sylvester Williams, affectionately known as “Fire” of Country Road and formerly of 1st Avenue, Dean’s Village, St. Michael died peacefully at age 69.
Retired Warrant Officer of the Barbados Defence Force and retired Training Officer of the Barbados Prison Service; Son of the late Oliver and Doreen Williams; Widower of the late Margaret Williams; Father of Craig Yarde; Grandfather of Aalijah Yarde; Adopted father of Rashid and Aaliah Best (both of the USA); Brother of Stephen Williams (deceased), Yvonne Williams, Phyllis Matthissen and Athel Williams (both of the UK), Esther Downie, Junior Williams and Yvette Oxley (deceased). Brother-in-law of Marion (USA), Rose (UK), Dorcus Williams, Joan Clarke and the late Carl Downie; Uncle of Cheryl Gill, Lennox Fergusson, Frank and Julianne Williams, Andrew Gooding, Nicole Corbin, Deeann Edwards, Katrina Arthur and eight others; Great uncle of Fifteen; Relative of the Alleyne, Boyce, Babb, Gibson and Holder families; Friend of His Excellency Lieutenant Colonel the Most Honourable Jeffrey Bostic, FB, MVO President of Barbados, Bill Lashley of the USA, Glenda, Ishmael, Stephen, Ramdas, Gillian Martindale, Claudia Williams and Ned; Member and a Friend of the Barbados Legion, the Modern Old Scholars Association, the Barbados Defence Force Family, the Barbados Prison Association and The True Tabernacle Holiness Church.
The funeral of the late Nigel Sylvester Williams leaves Paramount Funeral Home, Upper Hindsbury Road, St. Michael at 8:30 a.m. on Friday April 17, 2026, for Abundant Life Assembly, Haynes Hill, Bank Hall, St. Michael, where relatives and friends are asked to meet at 10:00 a.m. for a Service of Celebration and Thanksgiving. The cortège will then proceed to the Military Cemetery, Gravesend, St. Michael for the interment. Floral arrangements may be sent to Paramount Funeral Home no later than 8:15 a.m. on Friday April 17, 2026.
The body will repose for viewing at the Main Guard House and Clock Tower, The Garrison, St. Michael from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Thursday April 16, 2026.
