Our Story
The purpose of the charity The House of Re-Discover (HRD) was conceived as cultural contact point charity and umbrella organization for the reintroduction of indigenous knowledge in various aspects of rebuilding an African sense community. HRD is the philanthropic arm our core project Global Day of (((Drum))) (GDOD) which was initiated in 2011 during the International year for people of African Descent IYPAD. The organization longer-term approach, seeks to work with the most promising new ideas, to uniquely invest in their innovation happening at the meeting place of the arts, science and technology. Objectives: • HRD seeks to integrate the various drums and dance cultures of the Caribbean with one another, by building networks of creative initiatives by combining training, research and advocacy with experimentation based cultural enterprises. • HRD-CCP work seeks to promote greater awareness of the Arts expressing, articulating and clarifying the philosophy, experiences and perceptions of Caribbean people. • The organization will host monthly gatherings and an annual production each year. GDOD has evolved to being a cluster project series 2015-2025 reflecting the Decade for people of African Descent (DPAD) HRD - GDOD cluster projects:
