Bernard W. Pooler, affectionately known as “Bunny” by his closest friends and families and Mr. Pooler by many clients and their families served The Substance Abuse Foundation with quiet distinction as Director of Finance & Administration. He provided the steady leadership that underpinned its mission to restore lives. A highly respected professional, he brought discipline, integrity, and insight to the Foundation’s financial stewardship, ensuring accountability and earning the confidence of major donors and partners.
Beyond his formal role, Bernard helped strengthen the organization’s long-term sustainability, contributing to initiatives in small enterprise and renewable energy. His work supported the effective operation of Verdun House and later Marina House, enabling vital care for those battling addiction.
He was not one to seek recognition, yet his impact was profound – felt in every life touched through the Foundation’s work. Bernard will be remembered as a trusted colleague, a man of quiet excellence, and cornerstone of the Foundation’s enduring contribution to Barbados and its citizens.
