50/52: September Review
One paradox of this season is that this is also the time where people experience mood disturbances, regret over the year that has passed, and trepidation for the year to come. Therefore, it is an excellent time to be intentional about curating social media.
It's presently flooded with new year specials, gym membership advertisements, reflective challenges, and thoughts of " how to make 2026 better than 2025 ever was."" This overload of information can inspire negative feelings and self-talk.
So, take care in what you expose yourself to within the next few weeks.
This is also the season of multiple social events and great opportunities to meet new people. Regardless of the type of event, you can flex that muscle and say hello to someone new. It may be a one-time encounter, or they could be a new friend in the making.
Social self care is integral to your full development. Do ensure it's not left out!
See you on Sunday!

50/52: September Review

In September we focused on Social Self- Care. This is about nurturing relationships, setting boundaries, and maintaining a sense of belonging and connection with others.

Christmas and year end is an excellent time to connect in groups and within communities.
Being around others, laughing, learning and showing up, helps to create a sense of belonging and boosts our emotional well being. It increases our sense of purpose and meaning and can even provide support during difficult times.

Many of us are self proclaimed "home bodies". However, engaging in social self- care requires us to intentionally connect and to do so, we need to get out and meet others. Slowing down. and giving someone our full attention, laughing, or simply sitting in silence with someone who gets us, is a reminder that we're not alone. It helps us to regulate our emotions, feel seen, and stay grounded.

This week, in the lead up to the Christmas holiday, how can you engage in social self- care?

Join us on Friday as we wrap up our year review.

49/52: August Review

After all the decluttering and organizing, we were encouraged to choose green alternatives and bring nature into our homes.

In preparation for Christmas and the holidays we can think of how to choose green. Perhaps reuse curtains or decorations for one more year or swap with a family member so things will be new to you and your home but not bought new. Thrifting is a great source of unique gifts! There are many options.

Nothing says clean, renewed, or organized like a plant or natural element to a room. It helps to create both physical and emotional space to breathe, to slow down, and to reset.

What can you do to engage in environmental self care in the lead up to the holidays? How can you ensure that your space is alive, grounded, and balanced?

Think about it today!

Join us on Sunday as we do the final review before Christmas!

49/52: August Review

In August, we looked at environmental self care. How managing the elements of our physical environment can have positive impacts.

Decluttering and organizing are in full swing in Barbados at this time because it's Christmas. Traditionally, we clean the entire house from top to bottom and make multiple changes to the decor, trimmings, etc.

The peace, clarity, and freedom felt at the end of the cleaning and changes are indicative of the impact of environmental self care. The physical environment in which we live can heavily impact our mental landscape.

We all have the opportunity to engage during the coming week and reap the benefits.

Join us on Friday as we continue looking at this much needed type of self care.

48/52: July Review

Conversations are immensely stimulating. Whether it’s debating an idea, sharing a new perspective, or exploring a deep question over coffee or tea, they challenge us in the best way. They awaken curiosity. They sharpen our thinking. They remind us we are still growing.
In a world of quick texts and surface-level scrolls, intentional conversation can feel radical. But it’s a powerful way to connect—with others and with our own minds.

If conversations are neglected then play is definitely non-existent for some of us.
When was the last time you let yourself just play—without a goal, a deadline, or the pressure to be productive? Play is not only for childhood, it is vital at every stage of life.
It sparks curiosity, creativity, problem-solving, and adaptability. Whether you’re building with Legos, doing a puzzle, working out Jenga, roleplaying in a tabletop game, improvising on an instrument, or exploring a new idea just for fun—your brain is lighting up in the best way.
Play helps us think in new patterns. It refreshes mental energy. It invites experimentation without fear of failure. Play reminds us that exploration is enough.

Let's try to incorporate conversations and play this weekend!

48/52: July Review

In July we focused on Intellectual Self-Care. This involves mind stimulating activities: those that promote critical thinking and expand your knowledge.

Reading is one of the most powerful ways to take care of your intellectual well-being. It’s not just about learning new facts or escaping into a story—it’s about making time for mental nourishment.
✨ It sharpens your focus.
✨ Expands your vocabulary and worldview.
✨ Builds empathy through new perspectives.
✨ Gives your brain a break from the constant scrolling.

Trying a new hobby gives your brain a break from the usual grind. It pulls you into the present moment, helping reduce stress and boost creativity. Whether it's baking, hiking, knitting, or dancing, hobbies remind us we're more than our to-do lists.
You don’t have to be “good” at it. It is about curiosity over perfection, play over performance and joy over pressure.

So take a moment this week to dive back into a book or that hobby you haven't practiced in a while.

See you on Friday!

47/52: June Review

Solitude involves intentionally spending time alone in relaxation and reflection. This practice helps us to reduce stress, increase our self awareness and focus on our physical and emotional needs without being influenced by others. Many times, it's in Solitude that we gain answers and experience clarity.

Forgiveness is about releasing thoughts and feelings associated with being hurt or hurting others. This process helps us to release ourselves and others from cycles of resentment, bitterness and sadness.
Forgiveness is weightlifting and freeing.

How have you engaged with Solitude and Forgiveness this year? We're you able to experience both the peace of Solitude and the freedom of Forgiveness? Take some time to reflect over the weekend.

Join us on Sunday as we look at our challenges from July.

47/52: June Review

In June, we looked at spiritual self- care.

When last did you spend time in nature? The gardens, parks, beaches and whatever other naturally occurring spaces you have in your location? Even reading about or watching nature shows.

We weren't meant to stay indoors but to experience the beauty of sunlight, fresh air on our skins and the positive impacts on our mood and perspective that comes with this level of connection.

Another form of connection is being involved in community, sharing, belonging and togetherness. Finding a space with common values, interests and goals.

Community reduces feelings of isolation, increases belonging and connects us to a deeper purpose. It helps to build self-esteem and confidence.

Spiritual self-care is about nurturing your inner self and connecting with purpose. It's about being aligned with your values and beliefs and connection that is outside yourself.

Communing with nature and being a part of community are integral in this. How have you been able to do this in 2025? How will you lean into it this week?

46/52: May Review

Mental stimulation is about challenging, engaging, or exercising your brain. Reading, completing puzzles, and learning new skills keeps your brain and thinking sharp and aids in increasing dopamine and serotonin levels, which improve mood and motivation.

Creativity, on the other hand, helps in releasing stress, processing emotions, and nurturing well-being in ways that words and logic can't.

Both types of activities create room for self- expression, experimentation, and exploration. They impact our moods, help us to be more mindful and self-aware, and help us to feel accomplished while exercising the muscle that is the brain.

How have you engaged your brain through stimulation or creativity this year? If mental self care has been minimal, this weekend may be a great time to start!

See you on Sunday as we continue our review.

46/52: May Review

In a world where we are constantly scrolling, we can easily drown in news, opinions, and highlight reels. The truth is that not all information deserves our attention.
Furthermore, it's important to filter our feeds to protect our minds.
How have you curated your content this year? Ensuring that you minimize those accounts, reels, etc. that bring you down and maximize those that uplift.

Your brain isn't meant to process everything at once. There must be limits and boundaries.
This is also true to your work life. There will always be one more task to complete and one more email to respond to. Were you able to set a shut-off time and stick to it?
Both these challenges may seem difficult at first but have long-term benefits.
If you did not complete during the month of May, consider putting these measures in place now as you get ready to enter a new year.
Here's wishing you a week where you can log off to level up.
