My across-the-road neighbor kindly roasted a local breadfruit for me. I peeled then grated the breadfruit “meat,” adding both our Cheeseboro Kitchens™ Island Sand and Garden Sand™, a touch of Bajan hot pepper sauce, as well as just enough mayo (the last of the mayo I had) to bind it into a patty shape (that might just hold together) to fry in the last of the oil I had and make breadfruit hash browns.
Breadfruit has a very mild flavor — to me, a faint hint cross between white sweet potato and plantain — that proves to be a great vehicle to highlight the Island and Garden Sands’ natural ability to showcase the inherent flavor properties.
