"New date for the Barbados National Senior Games"
The National Senior Games will be held in September this year, the month that’s globally recognised as Seniors Month..
The Hon. Adrian Forde, Minister of People Empowerment & Elder Affairs, made this announcement in Parliament in his lead-up to tabling the Older Persons Care and Protection Bill 2026.
Mr Forde confirmed since Monday he met and consulted with the various sporting bodies who participate in the Senior Games. "The Games will take place in early September, which would conclude just before the Huntsman Games in Utah. Those competitors who performed creditably would attend those Games with Government’s help.That is a commitment from this Government.”
Mr Forde also indicated another reason for adjusting the dates to that particular period is to allow the National Senior Games to unfold without conflicting with other popular celebrations in the calendar.
The Cabinet Minister told his colleagues some of the events this year include , and as part of Government’s commitment to active aging.
