At Gavi's high-level pledging summit, co-hosted by the European Union and the Gates Foundation, a record number of donors pledged towards Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, securing more than US$ 9 billion towards a target budget of US$ 11.9 billion to fund our ambitious strategy to protect 500 million children, saving at least 8 million lives from 2026â2030, protect our world from the threat of pandemics, and protect communities from conflict, climate change and other global challenges.
This unprecedented support is a powerful vote of confidence in Gaviâs mission: to protect 500 million children, save at least 8 million lives, and build stronger, more resilient health systems around the world by countries, government, donors, private sectors, CSOs, institutions and professional groups.
Why Was This Summit So Successful?
â
Global Commitment to Immunization Equity: Donors recognize that access to vaccines is not just a moral imperative, but critical to global stability and security. This funding ensures that no child is left behind, no matter where they are born.
â
The support from countries at the Gavi Pledging Summit has been remarkableâa true sign of global collaboration and commitment to unite for greater health impact. Itâs time to focus more at the country levelâto bring these pledges to life by demonstrating real impact in communities, where it matters most.
Together, we can turn promises into protectionâand ensure every child, everywhere, gets a fair shot at life. đĒđ
â
Unmatched Return on Investment: Gaviâs model delivers high impact per dollarâpreventing disease, reducing poverty, and strengthening economies through healthier populations.
â
Innovative Financing: Beyond traditional pledges, the Summit secured:
US$ 4.5 billion in complementary financing from development finance institutions
US$ 200 million in cost savings from vaccine manufacturers
US$ 149 million+ in private sector partnerships to enhance vaccine delivery
â
Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) have played a critical role in Gaviâs successâboth during the pledging summit and in Gaviâs broader mission. CSOs continue to be vital partners in delivery, advocacy, accountability, and community engagement.
â
Cross-Sector Collaboration: From governments to multilateral institutions and private sector partners, the pledges reflected a truly global and united front against the threats of pandemics, conflict, climate change, and more.
The message from this Summit is clear:
Immunisation is not only healthâitâs hope, itâs resilience, and itâs the foundation of a safer, more equitable world. It is ever powerful public health solutions for Humanity.
