Over US$ 9 BILLION pledged to Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance to protect 500 million children and save at least 8 million lives between 2026–2030! 💉❤️

At Gavi's high-level pledging summit, co-hosted by the European Union and the Gates Foundation, a record number of donors pledged towards Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, securing more than US$ 9 billion towards a target budget of US$ 11.9 billion to fund our ambitious strategy to protect 500 million children, saving at least 8 million lives from 2026–2030, protect our world from the threat of pandemics, and protect communities from conflict, climate change and other global challenges.

This unprecedented support is a powerful vote of confidence in Gavi’s mission: to protect 500 million children, save at least 8 million lives, and build stronger, more resilient health systems around the world by countries, government, donors, private sectors, CSOs, institutions and professional groups.

মেডিকেল ভর্তি পরীক্ষা ও ভবিষ্যতের স্বাস্থ্যব্যবস্থা: দেশ কোন পথে?

মেডিকেল ভর্তি পরীক্ষার সাম্প্রতিক ফলাফল আমাদের স্বাস্থ্যব্যবস্থার ভবিষ্যৎ নিয়ে নতুন করে ভাবতে বাধ্য করছে। মেধা তালিকার প্রথম পাঁচ জনই ঢাকার বাইরে পড়াশোনা করেছেন, এবং শীর্ষ দশের মধ্যে ঢাকার শিক্ষার্থীর সংখ্যা তুলনামূলকভাবে কম। প্রশ্ন হলো, ঢাকার বাইরে শিক্ষার্থীরা কেন এত ভালো করছে? এটি কি মফস্বলের শিক্ষার্থীদের কঠোর পরিশ্রমের ফল, নাকি ঢাকার শিক্ষার্থীদের মধ্যে আত্মতুষ্টি কাজ করছে?

আরেকটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ দিক হলো, মেয়েরা ছেলেদের তুলনায় অনেক ভালো করছে। পাসকৃতদের মধ্যে মেয়েদের হার ৬৩.১%, যেখানে ছেলেদের হার মাত্র ৩৬.৯%। কেন ছেলেরা পিছিয়ে পড়ছে? এটি কি বখাটেপনা, মনোযোগের অভাব, নাকি সামাজিক বা মানসিক চাপে জর্জরিত হওয়ার ফল? এই প্রশ্নগুলোর উত্তর খুঁজতে গভীর গবেষণা প্রয়োজন।

মফস্বলের শিক্ষা: একটি শিক্ষা
যারা মনে করেন মফস্বলে পড়ালেখার মান কম, তাদের জন্য এই ফলাফল একটি বড় শিক্ষা। ঢাকায় পরিবার রেখে যারা জেলা ও উপজেলায় চাকরি করছেন, তাদের উচিত সন্তানদের নিজের কাছে রাখা এবং তাদের পড়ালেখায় সঠিক দিকনির্দেশনা ও উৎসাহ দেওয়া।

পাস মার্ক ৪০%: মান কি প্রশ্নবিদ্ধ?
মেডিকেল ভর্তি পরীক্ষায় পাস মার্ক মাত্র ৪০%, যা বিশ্বের উন্নত দেশগুলোর তুলনায় অত্যন্ত কম। যুক্তরাজ্য, যুক্তরাষ্ট্র, কানাডা, জাপান বা দক্ষিণ কোরিয়ার মতো দেশগুলোতে পাস মার্ক সাধারণত ৫০-৬০% বা তার বেশি। এসব দেশে শিক্ষার্থীদের একাডেমিক ও ক্লিনিকাল দক্ষতা কঠোরভাবে মূল্যায়ন করা হয়, যেখানে মানসিক ইচ্ছাশক্তিও গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।

পাস মার্ক কম রাখা শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য সুবিধাজনক মনে হলেও, এটি দীর্ঘমেয়াদে চিকিৎসা সেবার মানকে প্রশ্নবিদ্ধ করতে পারে। এমনকি পিছিয়ে থাকা দেশগুলোতেও মেডিকেল শিক্ষার মান উন্নত করতে কঠোর মানদণ্ড বজায় রাখা হয়।

কী করা উচিত?
বাংলাদেশে মেডিকেল শিক্ষার মান উন্নত করতে হলে নিচের পদক্ষেপগুলো নেওয়া জরুরি:
1. পাস মার্ক বাড়ানো এবং কঠোর একাডেমিক ও ক্লিনিকাল মানদণ্ড নির্ধারণ করা।
2. শিক্ষার্থীদের জনস্বাস্থ্য সেবায় মনোযোগ এবং মানসিক প্রস্তুতি বাড়ানো।
3. বাবা-মায়ের ইচ্ছার চাপে নয়, শিক্ষার্থীদের ব্যক্তিগত আগ্রহ ও দক্ষতার ভিত্তিতে পেশা বেছে নেওয়ার স্বাধীনতা নিশ্চিত করা।
4. বেসরকারি মেডিকেল শিক্ষাকে বাণিজ্যিকীকরণ থেকে বের করে উন্নত সেবা প্রতিষ্ঠানে রূপান্তরিত করা।
5. নীতিনির্ধারক, জনস্বাস্থ্য ও মেডিকেল প্রশাসন, এবং শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলোকে একত্রে কাজ করতে হবে।

ভবিষ্যতের জন্য পথচলা
যোগ্য শিক্ষার্থীদের সুযোগ দিলে এবং শিক্ষার মানোন্নয়নে জোর দিলে দেশের স্বাস্থ্যব্যবস্থা আরও শক্তিশালী হবে। এখন সময় এসেছে সঠিক পরিকল্পনা ও পদক্ষেপের মাধ্যমে এই চ্যালেঞ্জ মোকাবিলা করার।
