Follow along with the Nomads Clinic on this page We will be on pilgrimage to Dolpo Nepal where we will serve in clinics, have listening sessions with local leadership and villagers to see how we can best serve going forward and provide health education and distribute menstrual kits. Most importantly we will be learning from and connecting with the beautiful and resilient people of the high mountains.

Our pilgrimage begins on Sept 19th Track us on this map https://share.garmin.com/nomads2024 Password: nomads2024 If you’d like, please send us SHORT occasional messages through the map but please…

I had such a wonderful and productive time in NYC

It’s always a treat to go back to my old stomping grounds of NYC where I lived for 13 years. I saw old friends, ate good food and took advantage of the productive energy there to get a a lot of work done. But even better than all that, this time, I was invited to give Grand Rounds talk at NYU Emer...

Our Story

While training and working as an Emergency Medicine physician at some of New York’s busiest hospitals, Dr. Wendy Lau began recognizing the challenge that working in the ER was having on her mind and body. She turned to yoga and meditation, first as a coping strategy, but it soon opened up a much deeper path of consciousness and spiritual growth. She brought her awakening to the ER, completely transforming the way she practiced medicine. It enabled her to be calm, focused and present with every patient, whatever the challenges she faced.

Wendy is a Living Meditation Teacher and did her yoga teacher training at Abhaya Yoga. She undertook numerous intense, spiritual pilgrimages to India, deepening her own journey and constantly growing her daily practice. She began sharing her unique approach - which is a combination of her medical training and her own journey - with other doctors and soon realized that her path was in teaching. Today she shares her unique skill set not only with medical practitioners, but also with seekers from all walks of life.

In addition, Dr. Lau is a co-director of the Upaya Zen Center’s Nomads Clinic, where she leads a group of medical volunteer on a seva pilgrimage to the far reaches of high-altitude Nepal each year, to share medicine with those who would not otherwise receive it. Whether Dr. Lau is sharing her skills in a voluntary capacity, working with individuals or groups, she is practical, approachable and works with a lot of heart. She is deeply motivated to the service of others.
